We visited happy hour at the Continental Club and were warmly greeted. The band playing were excellent - great music, no cover just place your tips in the bucket to show your appreciation. Where else but Austin can you walk in a club, buy a drink and listen to really excellent music at no cost. It is fabulous. There is... More

Went to the Continental Club three times in a week, since we were staying right across the street at the Austin Motel. It was nice to go somewhere that I had heard about all of my life. First night we went upstairs around 8:30, no cover, to hear a local band that was mediocre-ok. Very little seating and what is... More

Located on the South Congress part of town -- set amidst great TexMex delights -- this classic refuge for mostly oldtimers and lovers of "classic" rock and country is inviting, warm and simple. There is plenty of bar area and seats to watch those on stage and those who let loose on the dance floor. How those Texans can dance.... More

Looking to get a feel for the Austin music scene on the quick? This is a great spot for you. With only a few hours to spare in Austin, I made my way to this quintessential destination for music and drinks. The Continental didn't disappoint. Service was good, the beer was cold, and for those few hours, I was really... More

I love hole in the wall places even though this one of the most famous holes in the wall in Austin. Still looks very authentic and original. All the greats played there. Very cool.

After having rain the whole day and literally only staying in our hotel room, we could finally visiting this blues cafe. it's been told that the entrance is free until 09.00 pm. and after that you have to pay $ 10. "The blues Specialist" was on stage and It's good. Friendly people and reasonable price for the drink. The live... More

We went here for a double header band. Had good sound system and service. The bar itself however hasn't had any money put into since about 198: I'd guess. Chairs and tables are shot and bathroom was disgusting. Bands were pretty good though and only $10 door charge for bands.
