Continental Club has bee great every time. I piece of history in a great area full of things to do. Terrific music and reasonably priced drinks. The Gallery upstairs is also very good.

We visited the Continental Club on a recommendation and I"m so glad we did. This laidback atmosphere was more our speed compared to the 6th St. shenanigans. The Gallery at the Continental Club is a small venue upstairs from the main bar and did NOT charge a cover. We saw the tail end of a cool acoustic set of mixed... More

This was the 1st music venue we visited on our recent road trip in Texas and probably the best. The atmosphere is perfect and people are there to listen to the bands as well as generally having a good time. Everyone was really friendly and the band even dedicated a number to us as we were from UK. Drink prices... More

We wanted to take in the live music scene in Austin during our recent visit. The Continental Club was agreat, classic choice. The 2 bands we saw were really good ...and the people watching (especially people up dancing) was even more fun. This place attracts all types. I would definitely return. Note it is a very small venue and does... More

We had planned to attend the show at the main venue of the Continental Club, but those waiting in line convinced us to go to the Gallery (upstairs) where we heard a singer songwriter, James McMurtry, who was excellent (and well known to many of those in attendance). And we didn't leave when a jazz group came on; we had... More

Live music is a big part of my life. I grew up going to see shows at venues in NYC like CBGB's, Wetlands, Brownie's or Maxwell's in Hoboken or The Stone Pony in Asbury Park. Many of my beloved New York venues are now shuttered, but here's what nice, The Continental Club brought me back. It's that kind of venue,... More

Planned to go to The Continental Club on S. Congress that everyone knows about, but when we shied away from the $20 cover on a Saturday night, we followed up on a lead that 2 doors down, and up some stairs was a new place called the Continental Club Gallery. Great jazzy, bluesy type live music, interesting club layout which... More

Really great little venue! This was such as surprise given the size of the place. When we went there was a fantastic blues band playing. We had great drink service. It was mostly standing room with a few stools set up in rows, but it worked for us. We just stopped in to check it out and stayed a lot... More

We were on a musical pilgrimage from the UK to Texas. We had tickets to two shows, one in Austin and one in Helotes but that was it. Nothing else planned. After scouring the web for some inspiration, we were recommended to go and see the Whiskey Sisters and the Continental (unfortunately we missed the force that is James McMurtry,... More
