This dive lake is built where an old brick factory was and so the bottom of the lake, which is filled by a fresh spring, is a very fine clay silt. If you get within inches of the bottom the white silt billows up and the entire lake is soon in white-out conditions. We had to try three times to... More

We come to Athens Scuba Park once or twice a year to go diving -- the people who run it are always so nice to us and it makes the long drive from Austin worth it. Athens has had a LOT of rain, so the water wasn't clear yet like it usually is, and we'll come back when it clears... More

After doing my open water class at Terrell, which is not a very nice place, a few friends of mine wanted to go check out Athens Scuba Park. This place is located about 70 miles or so from Dallas which is not bad for me being in Fort Worth. The place is very cool in my opinion. They have over... More

Came to finish off my OW SCUBA. Visibility was very limited when I went, but there are plans to clear it up. I will return to get a better view of the sunken items (airplane, houseboat, bus, etc). Overall the place can be very attractive and accessible.

Second time we've been here but the visibility was extremely poor both times. Three feet max maybe. The water temps were crazy with it being 90 at the surface and 68 at 15 ft. The folks running the park are exceptionally nice. I had a bad computer battery and a blown O ring on a hose and Calvin fixed both... More

It's not like diving in the Caribbean but Athens Scuba Park offers a great place to work on/ refresh your skills. Get there early so the visibility is good. Once the crowd shows up water gets murky. Staff is super friendly. On site dive shop, equipment rental and tank refills are very convenient. We enjoyed our visit. We will be... More

We drove up to Athens, TX for the weekend to dive at Athens Scuba Park. We called ahead to reserve tanks and find out more about the park. We arrived at the park first thing Saturday morning. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were able to drive up close to the dock to drop off our gear,... More

Drove to Athens Scuba Park for a day of diving to make sure all of our gear worked properly before a trip to Bonaire. When we arrived, they said the viz might be around 10 feet or so due to the rain the week or two before. We decided 10 feet was tolerable and we geared up to dive. What... More

From the moment we entered the easy to find park the staff was friendly and welcoming! Water was warm, with plenty of underwater attractions to happen upon while diving. Kept our attention for two tanks each. Facilities were clean and kept up. Wash racks for equipment were greatly appreciated! Bathrooms with fully stocked showers were great since we had a... More

My wife and I enjoy diving at Athens Scuba Park. We have gone a few times a year for a handful of years now. The diving is pretty simple. Docks from your camp/day site. Lots of submerged items/gear/vehicles to explore. Good dive shop, bathrooms and changing rooms. The viz gets bad sometimes but hey it's a small lake in Texas...get... More
