We aren't usually up for tourist type places, but had see this on TV and thought it would be fun. So we stopped in passing through town and split a 18oz rib eye. It was cooked nicely, service was better than average for sure, and we liked the rustic fun atmosphere.

We stopped here to give our German exchange student the quintessential Texas experience and were not disappointed - watching the 72 oz steak challenge, the decor, menu, music - all of it was over-the-top Texas. The highlight though was my son getting to add 'mountain oysters' to his list of exotic foods that he's eaten. Like others have said, the... More

It's a must stop on Route 66! Food is just average but all in all it's a fun experience and the place itself has some really cool stuff outside!

I thought the name was "THE BIG TEXAN" or "THE BIG TEXAN STEAK RANCH"? When I ate here as a kid I think it was more like a cafe facility. But back to this century: The steaks are not prime. I never will try to eat that monster steak to see if I can get it for free. A tourist... More

The staff was friendly, our Waite was good, but both steaks came over cooked and when the waiter told the cook he blamed the waiter. For a 20 oz ribeye, it was very thin and they made no attempts to corrected the over cooked steak. I left half of it.

We had to stop here during out Route 66 trip. Well, I can at least say I've been. The food was average, the same can be said of the service. My prime rib was barely warm, my friend's medium rare steak was overdone, my husband's order was completely wrong but he ate it anyway so that he didn't have to... More

I had a really good big prime rib. If passing through or staying in town you should try it out. You may get to see some idiot try a 72 oz steak with all the fixings. Also on occasion they have live music.

My friend couldn't wait to tell me about this place as soon as I mentioned we were doing Route 66. A 72oz steak challenge just seemed ridiculous but low and behold, two Australian chaps sat down up on the top table for the challenge. And wow what a steak! I enjoyed my dinner, the portion size was huge, I didn't... More

Big Texan has been well known across America for serving for Free the 72 oz Steak to those that manage to Eat it. This was not my attempt but while I was there in a packed Restaurant 2 Gents from Australia gave it a try. I settled for the BBQ Platter which was good except for the Sausage which was... More

You are not going to go away hungry at this place, but quantity is not always an acceptable substitution for quality, and the flavor of my steak wasn't bad at all. But the flavor of the steak seemed a bit weak comparably.
