Great Local History

Nice low key place at your pace to get local lore. Spiel about Fred Astaire was very interesting and did not know he was a golfer.

Interesting historical displays in the unique setting of Banksia, a Winter Colony estate. It's worth it just to see the house, although the exhibits are worth seeing as well. Nice gift shop.

This is a small historic museum set in Aiken SC , the city is well worth a visit with some great eating places and a good Micro Brewery downtown. I visited the Museum a couple of times with visiting relatives , the staff are knowledgeable and very accommodating , the first visit was close to closing but we were not... More

Nice historical perspective on Aiken County and surrounding area including Revolutionary & Civil Wars, textile industry, Winter Colony residents and community development and culture. Educational for residents and out-of-towners. Nice little gift shop.

I've taken my kids here since they were three and five years old.....they're now 23 and 25....and I can't count the number of times we've visited...... Informative, easy to navigate....and a lot of local history here. Wonderful docents, and lots of history.
