Visiting friends in Aiken who thankfully took us to this wonderful, well-cared for old southern home that rambles on and on and is filled with wide-ranging collections that flow from parlors, to ball rooms, to kitchen, to bedrooms, to basement to carriage house. Lots and lots to look at and read about in the museum and its free to get in! My 10 year old son and I loved it. I also had my 6 month old with us. For those of you with babies its not stroller friendly there are different floors with stairs. But there is a circus room upstairs for... More

Located in Banksia, one of the Winter Colony Cottages (30+ rooms) the musuem is well organized, has high variety, is a treasure trove of local trivia/knowledge, and has something for everyone. We particularily enjoyed the Bagels and Bloodies before the Blessing of the Hounds on Thanksgiving Day. More

Such neat furniture, and a huge house! History of Aiken, impressive furniture, and really good place to take visitors to when they come to Aiken. Not your little hole in the wall local museum! More

You never realize how important Aiken was in the decades prior to now. The museums cureator is a plethra of local history knowledge. More

The Aiken County Historical Museum is a wonderful place to get a feel for Aiken's history and people. This beautiful old mansion was once the home of one of Aiken's wealthier families.
