Fort Macon is a beautiful park which is very well taken care of. My favorite part of the park is the new trails that opened this fall.

Fort Macon is a well maintained fort from years past that you can explore and learn how soldiers lived years ago. Easy walking and kids love it. Best of all its free. Once you are done exploring the fort you can go walk on the beach

If you like history, you will love this park. You can walk and see the remains of actual cannon placements. In the office there is also a very interesting lighted display of the raging battle that eventually captured the fort. Easy parking and not far from a NC Aquarium; you can easily do both in one day.

Fort Macon and the surrounding area have some of the most beautiful views in Coastal North Carolina. The Fort is rich with history and activities, and the view from the top is worth a much larger journey or price, it is absolutely stunning.

Lots of great history about our country & N Carolina. Voted most visited State Park in NC. If you are here in the summer, be sure to check out Friday evening Music concerts for a taste of NC music.

Great FREE attraction. Nice visitors center and historical Civil War Fort. The beach area is great for shelling too. Very friendly and informative staff. Would recommend for both the historical significance and the beach!
