We were amazed at the improvements to buildings and the up grades to the beach. The view is fantastic and the employees, volunteers pleasant. We were there for hours... and learned so much...Even our guests from overseas were deep into the history by the time we left... A great experience

My grandchildrenp (ages 10 and 7) and I visited Fort Macon in July and had a great time experiencing the interactive displays illustrating how soldiers lived during the Civil War. The new museum is beautifully situated to support the actual fort site. The girls and I began our tour watching the video that describes the function and history of the... More

Fort Macon State Park is a must see if you are within 20 miles of Morehead City. The Fort itself has a wonderful museum inside, the buildings are interesting and very easy to explore, and the grounds are well kept and beautiful. Don't miss the long stretch of beach, the nature walk that takes you right behind the Coast Guard... More

The visitors center is almost larger than the fort itself. Well presented history of the fort and park.

Great place to have a picnic, family outing, or just fish. The beach is along the inlet to the sound and with the old Fort there is plenty to see. Well maintained..

The surroundings of the Fort are beautiful. The exhibits within the Fort were very informative. It was interesting to see how the Fort was used over time and how those who served here lived. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. Walking about he Fort is not necessarily easy and I would not recommend for those with very small children.... More

A 18th century fort, one of the last strongholds of the Confederacy restored to pristine glory you can sense the apprehension of the bygone battle complete with occasional paranormal activity

Love all the exhibits, beautiful scenery. Interesting to see all of the history from the War for Southern Independence through WW2. This park is a gem for the state of NC.

A well maintained and interactive Fort that makes for a fun family adventure in time! We go every time we visit this area and enjoy the exhibits, Fort and gift shop! I feel like we capture a bit more information each time and walk on the beach afterwards talking about what it must've been like to have lived during the... More
