Great place to have a picnic, family outing, or just fish. The beach is along the inlet to the sound and with the old Fort there is plenty to see. Well maintained..

The surroundings of the Fort are beautiful. The exhibits within the Fort were very informative. It was interesting to see how the Fort was used over time and how those who served here lived. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. Walking about he Fort is not necessarily easy and I would not recommend for those with very small children.... More

A 18th century fort, one of the last strongholds of the Confederacy restored to pristine glory you can sense the apprehension of the bygone battle complete with occasional paranormal activity

Love all the exhibits, beautiful scenery. Interesting to see all of the history from the War for Southern Independence through WW2. This park is a gem for the state of NC.

A well maintained and interactive Fort that makes for a fun family adventure in time! We go every time we visit this area and enjoy the exhibits, Fort and gift shop! I feel like we capture a bit more information each time and walk on the beach afterwards talking about what it must've been like to have lived during the... More

When I was a boy we went to the beach at what is now called the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. From about the time I was 12, whenever mom needed to run errands she would drop me off at Fort Macon. There was no charge, I love history and if I got tired of the fort I could always... More

Fort Macon is a park centered around a confederate fort that has recently had a superbly well done face lift. Authentic. Educational. A park visited over and over again by the locals. The park also has access to the close by beach and an overlook that provides an awesome panoramic view of the waters bordering the fort..

This is a nice place to walk and see some historical artifacts. You have the Bogue Sound on one side and the Atlantic ocean on the other.I am a history major, so this place was amazing to stroll through !!
