Very easy to get to once in Atlantic Beach, NC. Entrance to Fort is through a well thought out "Entrance building", for lack of a better word. It houses a movie room, gift shop, museum explaining the basics of the fort and a manned information desk. Beautiful, inside and out. The Fort has been well preserved/rebuilt. Has different setups in... More

Welcome center was redone since we had last visited. Volunteers were helpful and full of interesting facts about the fort. You can't go wrong, it's free! More

Do this with your kids if you are in the area! So much shade in the summertime and have them "imagine" the torture chambers! LOL!!! The beaches around it are pristine and superb! You haven't seen the "pinnacle" until you have been to Fort Macon. More

This was a really neat place to get a take on history and then relax on the beach for a picnic and have great views of the neigboring islands. Our trip was short, would like to have had more time. More

Very informative visitors center, video & displays. Guided tours. Great displays throughout the Fort. Fun for climbing around & viewing the nearby islands & inlet. Like the recycled Christmas tree erosion project. History Buffs: Don't miss this one! More

Its a great park with a ton of history. I'm a bit of a history buff, so I could spend all day reading the plaques in the Fort. Remember to watch your kids, it's a Fort not a playground. More
