Cool place, very clean

Very neat place, and seemingly well-run. Just beware if you get there when a tour bus pulls up. There are short cuts to the sound side of the beach at the fort, which is a plus.

I had never heard of Fort Macon before our trip. The history of Fort Macon, and its relationship to American history, was fascinating. I would recommend this site for adults and kids.

The fort was very well preserved and it was very educational . There was ample parking. The admission price is free.

A great place to revisit the past. Walk through the forts to experience how things were during olden times. See weapons used and read about conditions and uses of the fort. Well maintained.

Fort Macon is a great day trip when visiting Atlantic Beach. I have been visiting the site for over forty years. The state continues to improve the facilities and expand the experiences. Have on learning and self guided opportunities to explore the fort. Breach access is also available with a bath house. No alcohol allowed so it's nice for families.... More

Very interesting to visit. They have a new addition to the facility which is the visitors center. We had a family member who lives in the area give us a tour. It is truly fascinating all the history in this one location. Still very much original and well preserved. this attraction is also Free.
