The park is beautifully set in the center of NC. The lake is very accessible. Camping sites, bathrooms, and showers are handicap accessible and cleaned regularly. Food stores are within 20 minutes east or west on Hwy 64. It can be difficult to rent a campsite at the waters edge during holiday season so plan your outing well in advance.... More

Jordan can be unpredictable, it gets very crowded with all forms of water craft, and can be dangerous if you don't stay very alert. Boats hauling tubers or other inflatable items can cross your bow at high speed, or dump their riders into the water with high frequency. Experienced boaters tend to stay away from the beach areas and the... More

You can not imagine how big Jordan Lake is! It is absolutely beautiful any time of the year. You can rent boats to take out on the lake for the day. There are beaches, trails, boat launches, fishing areas, picnics areas and more! Absolutely beautiful day with nature!

The campground at Poplar Point is fantastic! Wooded, natural, peaceful camping and affordable! Definitely will return!

Great park to visit during the week, I'm not so sure about the weekend as I've heard that it gets crowded. A lot of views and locations to walk around. There's a small play ground for the kids to enjoy and quiet. It seemed lonely when I was there. Free admission during the week and 6 dollars on weekend?

I hesitate to write this review, as we love love love this place....the lack of houses makes this lake an enjoyable one to boat on, ski, tube, etc. on and the boat traffic is pretty low except on the weekends as is to be expected.....the campgrounds around the lake are awesome as well - a great place for a family...if... we spent weekend at the crosswinds campground. the sites were nicely spread out and shaded, and our site was just across the road from the bathhouse (sinks, toilets, showers). there is swimming beach access for campers only, but from section A, it would be a long walk-especially with kids. limited parking is available at the beach. ticks are very bad,... We stayed at the Painter's Creek Campground at the Jordan Lake State Recreation Area. The campground was clean and quiet and the staff was friendly. We stayed over the Independence Day weekend and expected some noise and revelry, but were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in a travel trailer and did not visit the bathhouses. The camping sites are good sized... More

We had a wonderful evening with David Griffin on his pontoon. He was great at explaining what animals we were looking at and explaining things to the kids on the boat. It was a wonderful way to spend an evening.

If you ever get the chance to rent a pontoon boat by all means do so!! It's a lovely way to spend the morning or afternoon exploring the waterways. Also, if you have a good group of people you can rent it for 30-40/person, just be clear that they wont cancel you reservation for weather and it does require a... More
