An incredibly interesting museum and worth the trip - you get great views from the castle of Bodrum. Some exhibitions were closed, although it was early in the season. The audio-guide worked really well and was very informative, but the museum had run out of maps so it was was not easy to find the way round. More

Definitely worth a visit particularly if you are interested in diving or shipping. The videos of how they recovered the wreck are like a history of diving. More

This is a terrific museum which is highly informative about so many aspects of antiquity as well as the 13th century. The focus on world trade and the descriptions of the amphora which date from the 15th century BC to the 13th century AD put together by international collaboration of scientists of various disciplines are extremely interesting. A gem of a museum with some really unique displays such as the ancient wreck "reconstructed" as it was found on the sea bed. Give yourself a good 2/3 hours and the kids will enjoy it too. More

But it can be visited without one, as many tags were in both Turkish and English. Fascinating to see the many items found and brought to the surface from wrecks. More
