I Have beento Manila many times over the years and never realized they had a zoo, it was only as I passed in taxi did I see the entrance. So on my way back to hotel decided to stop by. I have visited zoos throughout the world, and the Philippines and have always found Philippine zoos to be depressing for... More

It was my first visit with my family last 18 June 2015 after 7 years, personally the zoo was not like the way it was before. Mali was old, there was no giraffe, no orangutan, no gorilla and the animals was not that very fun for young children anymore. For first timers who was not familiar with some of the... More

This place, as most zoos, was very depressing. Animals belong in the wild, not locked in captivity in a place with poor conditions. Mali the elephant has a very sad story, it was hearbreaking to see her. I went there with a local and regret to have given money to a place that exploits animals, I would never visit this... More

Visited with a local who was embarrassed by it. Seems there has been no maintenance done in last 50 years. Cassowarys were best exhibit of a very poor bunch. If a giraffe statue is your thing then go, otherwise stay away. Foreigners charged double rate. Putrid green algae-choked waterway meanders thru this zoo, complete with rubbish. Manila doesn't need this... More

I am upset to learn of the suffering of Mali, the Manila Zoo's lonely elephant. I have learned through international news reports that Mali has been held in the same barren, cement enclosure for almost 40 years. She has been denied the company of other elephants, something that is essential to her emotional and mental well-being. People worldwide are urging... More

Most of the animals are in enclosures that are big or at least big enough. I did not see any that were in obvious distress other than from the ubiquitous heat and humidity. But neither the piece of land nor the collection are very big. By comparison, there are bigger zoos in both, say, Dhaka (Bangladesh) and Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala (India)!

This zoo is on the small side, and does not have a huge variety of animals. It is still something nice and outdoorsy to do if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of Manila. It is more of a place to kill some time with a friend than a place to go if you are an avid... More

This zoo was pretty good. It cost 100php which is pretty cheap. Animals were active and conditions seemed pretty good. If you are near by worth stopping in.

Manila zoo has limited animals to offer. The main attraction is the 40 year old Elephant Mali. I'm also surprised that the zoo has 1 lion. Cause lions are very rare in zoo's. I wish that the lion would be transferred to a bigger area. But overall if your a tourist i'm sorry to say that Manila zoo is not... More

Perhaps it is best that this attraction discontinue its operation for the sake of the remaining animals. Poorly maintained. They should free those poor animals to the wild.
