Some geologists theorize that Corregidor was once part of a huge volcano that erupted on one side and gradually eroded to become partly invisible beneath the sea. It is called "The Rock" because it served as the major bastion of Philippine's Allies during World War II. « less

During my business trip to the Philippines, I had the fortune to take a day trip and visit this amazing island, and I'm glad I did. The trip began with a 1.5 hour ferry ride to the island which was enjoyable in and of itself. Upon arriving, I was treated to a 4 or so hour tour, including lunch at... More

I went to Corregidor last May for the first time in about two years. My purpose was not to take the regular tour (I've gone around the island enough times in the past). I rented a vehicle to take me around and take some photos which I needed to update an e-book of mine. My intention was to maximize my... More

I boarded the ferry and was on my way to adventure. On the ferry SunCruises keeps you pretty occupied with a movie which is awesome considering its about 1 hour and half from Manilla. Once on the island whatever number was on your tag that was the cable car you were on for the duration of the tour. I happened... More

Isla ng Corregidor, is an island located at the entrance of Manila Bay in southwestern part of Luzon Island in the Philippines. Due to this location, Corregidor was fortified with several coastal artillery and ammunition magazines to defend the entrance of Manila Bay and the City of Manila from attacks by enemy warships in the event of war. Located 48... More

Its a very historical place to be. Not suitable for small children or infant. Take the early morning boat trip to the island with the tour included and lunch also. Bring a small towel and a hat, sunglasses, a small flashlight and wear light clothing and good walking shoes. You'll finish by mid afternoon for your boat trip back to... More

Or a book or three; my history books did not talk about this much, other than to include General MacArthur's line about returning. He got to leave; many of the lesser soldiers did not. A larger than life statue at water's edge commemorates this event. The island is fascinating; the tour well worth it. I learned about history I did... More

I was so excited to get to Corregidor after all the WWII stories I had heard about it. It was sobering to actually visit the site of so much horror. We enjoyed the tour and listening to our guide, and the Philippine luncheon at the hotel. I'm sure the success of one's visit depends largely on the guide. Ours was... More

We enjoyed driving around this historic island and seeing the ruins from the war. It is well kept and in great shape. The island is rich in history as well as scenic and enjoyable to see.

If I knew what was really in store for this tour I would have taken the overnight tour with the ghost-hunting side trip. I took the Sun Cruises tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was well-organized and very informative. Don't even attempt to take the walking tour during the summer. The island is too big and the weather too hot.... More
