We visited the Mulee Aage on 25 June 2014 , riding a hired taxi to show us around.Paid for MVR 150 or about USD 9.5 for a 1 hour+ ride and photo stop. The Mulee Aage is located opposite the presidential jetty, main jetties, and between the Ameer Ahmed Magu and Buduthakurufaanu Magu, surrounded by the Islamic Center , Majedhee Building,... This is president's residence & is just opposite to the Presidential Jetty terminal # 1.... This building is situated between fish market & main ferry terminal/eatery joints/hotels... It is said that when some neighboring country rebels attacked Maldives few years back, they landed on this terminal only. Now, this building is the most guarded building in Male with Ivory white... Worth a few minutes visit to one of the few sites and sights of Male. Find somewhere to sit in the nearby park but don't forgetto apply bug repellent first.

There are very few of the traditional old buildings left in Male but this is one of them and it is beautifully maintained and reminds you of a Maldives from long ago. Well worth a look and very photogenic. This is one of my favourite places and I always stop when I pass by and imagine a time gone by.

The Mulee Aage is the official residence of the Maldives President. As part of our walking tour, my parents and I visited this palatial home, alas, only from the outside. We were not allowed to go inside and were stopped at the gate like all the other tourists. The view was beautiful from the outside and one can only imagine... More

The view of this building from the street is quite spectacular, reminiscent of mansions of a bygone era. Unfortunately that is where the view remains because entry to both the grounds and buildings is not allowed, so you'll have to make do with a mark past along the street. It is really disappointing that such an impressive building can only... More

All you see is the outside.... beautiful in exterior but thats it the exterior. You are not allowed to go in and there is no shade around to sit and admire the building. It feels like you are looking into a prison with all the gates and doors and windows shut.

Looking at it, you can imagine the home or small palace of sultans and later presidents and feel the history. It's bright and just enough security in the gates and walls to signify its importance and the exclusivity of its position, but not so much as to make it look irreprochable. Part of any walking tour and good for a... More
