Grand Friday mosque is the biggest mosque in the Maldives. Situated in Malé, it was constructed by the Sultan Ibrahim Iskandhar in 1656 and is of great architectural importance. It worth to visit.

The Maldivian people are very proud of their Grand Friday Mosque, and they should be - it is a wonderful space bestowed on them by the many rulers of the Middle East and a great center of the town. That said, no more than 5 mins is needed here as it isn't particularly pretty or interesting beyond the fact that... More

This really is worth a visit. It is large for the Maldives and takes up a fair bit of space in Male when you thin of th slack of space here. The outside vies are great and just resect all local customs when visiting, best to get a guide who can talk you through the history. If you only have... More

Being non-Moslem, we were not allow to enter into the mosque. However simply photo taking from the outside was already very impressive. The entrance to the mosque as well... More

We had been on a dive holiday and had the opportunity to take an afternoon tour of Male. We were shown the Grand Friday Mosque which is just a short walk from the jetty. It was a architecturally beautiful modern mosque with gold domes set in amongst large shady trees. Unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity of going inside but... More

Enjoyed visiting. Wonderful stained glass windows. It is named after Mohamed Thukrufan, the person who drove the Portuguese out of the Maldives.

A nice looking modern mosque with limited visiting hours. I believe it's used as a department office as well.
