4 rooms explain the malay history from the Stone Age to today. the only Thing that was missing was the 2nd world war with the japanese Invasion - only 2 Pictures talked very briefly about it but basically they skipped this section, while they talk quite a lot about the colonial times and the time of the Emergency.

The National Museum is set in a rather old building but provides interesting exhibits such as excavated items found in different parts of the country. It is accessible by the free GO KL city bus and the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus. It takes about 1-2 hours to visit the exhibits which includes some external displays such as vintage cars and trains. Good... Although only 5 Ringgit to get in (for foreigners!!), I covered the whole museum in less than half an hour. Nothing seemed to inspire me to pause and examine the items on display and there seemed to be gaps in its presentations. One solitary stand on the Japanese occupation, nothing interactive for children and not much on the way of... More

This is a good place to learn about Malaysian history from the official state perspective - the way they deal with the tensions between ethnic groups, the interactions of local elites with the British administration, and the Communist insurgency against British rule would leave most historians disappointed, but what would you really expect for a state museum? What I liked most... More

My wife and I got off here from the Hop On Hop Off bus. The museum has a lot of interesting displays and explains a lot about the history of Malaysia. the museum is quite large and spread out so it surprised us when we found more areas of displays. The staff were helpful. Well worth the visit to learn... More

There was a special exhibition on military, weaponry and history. We had to pay for the second time for this special exhibition, I don't mind paying but the displays were not that much. Apart from the recon tank, Scorpion and the heli, Alouette, the paid displays inside the building were not that extra ordinary. I have seen rather interesting displays... More

This was one of the stops we made (from a cruise ship, docked on the west coast) on our tour of Kuala Lumpur. We were all very impressed at the quality and quantity of artefacts on display. Labelling was clear, and in good English.
