This museum is small by international standards but two of its four galleries, The Colonial Era Gallery and The Malaysia Today Gallery give an insight into the major influencers on the national psyche today. Like most national museums, it presents a fairly jingoistic view of the world and sticks closely to promoting the political orientation of the party currently in... More

I highly recommend the visit to the National Museum with a daily guided tour offered by volonteers for FREE (every day at 10am in English and on some days in French, check the website of the museum for more details). Our guide Jean-Marie, a French expatriate living in KL, is a walking wikipedia of Malaysian history from pre-historic times to... More

A nice museum, which shows the development of Malaysia from beginning of time until the latest past. Informative and enjoyable. I compare all my museums trip with the National History Museum of New York, what is for me, so far, a 5+. So in comparement with that it makes a solid impression.

Worth it to get an overview, though not much detail, on Malaysian history. A bit surprising to see how much of Indonesian history is part of the story here (Java Man, Borobudur Temple, etc), and how some colonial powers are respected more than others, but all very well presented.

Surprisingly small and compact museum. Concentrates on 4 main historical topics being Prehistoric; Malacca period; Colonial; and Modern.Considering the limited space it manages to summarise these subjects in an interesting and imaginative way whilst appealing to adults and children.

Muzium Negara is a large complex with multiple buildings storing and displaying mostly national historical artifacts. Since there are three large ethnic groups and a history of colonial occupation there is an interesting mix of cultural displays. The displays very good but the lighting could be better. IN some of the displays the lights would shine directly onto the artifacts... More

This museum is interesting place to fill your time during your visit in KL (especially during rainy season). They provide pre-historic collections, kingdom, colonisation stories and also today's current situation. Other than that, they also have some collections outside the main building of museum which you can also explore. And if you feel a bit hungry, they also provide cafeteria... More
