If you really want to shop around - especially for fabrics like silk, songkret etc. - go to Little India Bazaar, you will pay half or even third the price there :)

All manner of curios and a lot of rubbish for sale but worth a wander around if you have the time and within walking distance of Chinatown

Loved Central Market and visited twice - very clean and interesting. Food was excellent and some interesting stalls both inside the air-conditioned markets and in the mall outside the markets. I bought Pashmina as gifts - watch out - the price reflects the quality. We also indulged in foot massages at the spa on the second floor for a reasonable... More

A nice shopping experience here at "Pasar Seni" which translates as "Central Market". It's very near (5 minutes walk) from Petaling Street / Chinatown, so you can combine a visit to both very easily. To get here, get the LRT and get off at Pasar Seni and you'll see it pretty much right in front of you - it's the... More

unique mix of stalls and shops. Not too much hassling or pushy sales assistants. Especially liked the Persian craft shop

The main market building is air-conditioned. Hence it is nice to spend a few hours during hot days. There are wide varieties of local products of all sorts e.g. Handicrafts, food, clothing, accessories, household decorations, etc.

I personally like the idea of purchasing items that are at least to some degree telling of a heritage or culture, and at central market you can find just that. You can buy all sorts of things from souvenirs to interesting local-style clothing to art etc. In contrast to the crazy madness going on down the street in china town,... More

The central market has a bit of everything for sale. There is so much choice it is easy to get a good deal. Just because prices are listed in most items does not mean you cannot ask for a discount. You will find all things are negotiable. You can get excellent batik shirts sarongs and bags. They have good food... More
