Our hands-on cooking classes are held Monday to Saturday and presented in English by entertaining Malaysian instructors. We are located just outside Kuala Lumpur city centre and our school is furnished with purpose made demonstration tables and individual cooking stations. Each day of the week we teach a different ethnic menu and provide detailed explanations of ingredients and cooking methods. Students individually prepare their own 4-course lunch, usually consisting of an appetizer, main course, side dish and dessert. Malaysian cuisine is a unique fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Baba-Nonya flavors, drawing upon our country's rich history as an historical crossroads for explorers and traders from around the globe. At LaZat our goal is to bring Malaysian cooking to the world by sharing with you our family recipes, which we have savored and perfected over generations. « less

A very friendly, informative guide showed us around an extremely clean market and explained all about the ingredients for use in our dishes. The school is housed in an old Malay style house in the hills overlooking K.L. And was therefore not too hot. The cooks were informative and helpful. Food was simple and will be easy to replicate at... More

My eight year old twin boys love to cook and so I thought it would be a wonderful idea for them to try an authentic style cooking class on our recent holiday in Malaysia. LaZat came so highly recommended and Ana was so welcoming to our family that we decided to make a booking with her. We wanted to learn... More

First I would like to thank the team at LaZat for such a fantastic experience. This is a must do for any foodie visiting KL. I can't wait to have a dinner party to show off the recipes I learnt. I traveled to KL earlier this month with my partner, who attended a conference there. In order to fill up... More

From the informative market tour to the delicious meals we prepared, the entire experience was amazing. Sue did a great job providing information on the fruits, veggies, and meats found at the market. The school is situated outside of the "touristy" area. The lush greenery gives you a feeling of being in the jungle. Great atmosphere. There is an option... More

A terrific way to experience KL in a little more depth. Collected from your hotel in the morning, you are first taken to the fantastic Pasar Besar wet market to see where the food is bought, and introduced to some local ingredients (I wish I'd gone back for another visit). Then up into the hills to the cooking school in... More

I honestly thought I had submitted a review of LaZat after my return earlier this year but now realise I hadn't. Since then I have attended several cooking classes in the uK , some very good so it allows me to give a very honest review based on more experience . La Zat is truly excellent from the initial contact... More

An amazing way to spend a day on the hills surrounding Kuala Lumpur! The class starts with a visit to a local market, where you get to see the ingredients of Malaysian cooking. The class takes place in a beautiful villa, and teachers are witty and charming locals. And the food - the most important feature of the day :)... More

My friend and I on holiday from Perth, Western Australia, attended a Tuesday Class and thoroughly enjoyed our day. Commencing with a visit to the local market. We learnt all about local produce, spices and benefits of the variety of herbs readily available combined with the smell and flavours they add to the cooking. Our class of six was international... If you have a day to spare and love cooking a visit to Lazat is a must. Ana and her team are so friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The day starts with a trip to the local market. We went on a Monday and it was also a public holiday so not all were open but the tour was intimate and... More

I cannot say enough what a great time I had visiting the LaZat cooking class. I took the class with three other friends and we had a great time learning about the background of traditional Malaysian food. Everything about LaZat was well organized, thoughtful, and fun. The email reservations were simple and quick, there were no issues with the transportation... More
