Come and visit Lazat Malaysian Cooking School and bring back an authentic taste of Malaysia! Our hands-on cooking classes are held Monday to Saturday and presented in English by entertaining Malaysian instructors. We are located just outside Kuala Lumpur city centre and our school is furnished with purpose made demonstration tables and individual cooking stations. Each day of the week we teach a different ethnic menu and provide detailed explanations of ingredients and cooking methods. Students individually prepare their own 4-course lunch, usually consisting of an appetizer, main course, side dish and dessert. Malaysian cuisine is a unique fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Baba-Nonya flavors, drawing upon our country's rich history as an historical crossroads for explorers and traders from around the globe. At LaZat our goal is to bring Malaysian cooking to the world by sharing with you our family recipes, which we have savored and perfected over generations.

This was a phenominal class. The instructor was patient, funny, informative and really made the class. The setting was spectacular and the arrangements to pick us up and take us back worked out really well. I thoroughly enjoyed the market tour and learning about local foods and culture.

My son and i had the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful day learning to cook a traditional Malaysian meal. Even though we were quite late in arriving we were treated very graciously to a cup of tea and an explanation of what we were going to do that day. Sue was our instructor and was just delightful! So friendly and... More

This is a lovely way to spend the day in KL. The pick-up took an hour although we were the second of three guests. The market visit was interesting although it would’ve been more fun if the ingredients to be used were also selected from the market. After this was over we arrived to the Lazat venue. Very rustic. We... More

Organized a team building event with Lazat, brought my Thai,HK, Korean, Taiwan colleagues there. They were sooo impressed 😊 the venue was very different from the rest of KL, representing typical Malay "kampung" (village) style houses. Ana and Laty prepared a very interesting agenda for the evening session which definitely did grab the attention of all my non-local colleagues. We... More

I really enjoyed this course and at the end, was happily surprised to see how good everything was that I had cooked. The staff is patient and helpful, you get to visit a local market and learn about the culture, and at the end, you eat what you have cooked. Even if you are a novice cook, you will be... More

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, lovely setting, well equipped and organised. Visit to the wet market was really informative, learning not just about food but a bit about Malaysian life and customs. The cooking class is a real hands-on experience, which makes the end-result so much more satisfying! Really well prepared and guided so you don't need to be a master... More

I met the group in the wet market where our host walked us around and showed the typical Malay ingredients. After this, we went to the Lazat school, it is in a very green area, in the middle of the forest. There we were received with a snack and the kitchen girls were waiting for us. Unfortunately I cannot remember... More

If you are in kl and want an amazing local cooking experience this is your place. I was born and raised in Malaysia and on our visit my husband had set up a cooking class for us to learn roti canai among other amazing dishes. It was fantastic. My only complaint was I wish we were there longer. Thank you... More
