Our hands-on classes are held Monday to Saturday and presented in English by entertaining Malaysian instructors. We are located just outside of Kuala Lumpur city centre, and our school is furnished with purpose made demonstration tables and individual cooking stations. Each day of the week we teach a different menu, and provide detailed explanations of ingredients and cooking methods. Students individually prepare their own 3-course lunch, usually consisting of an appetizer, main course, side dish, and dessert. Malaysian cuisine is a unique fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Baba-Nonya flavors, drawing upon our country’s rich history as an historical crossroads for explorers and traders from around the globe. At LaZat, our goal is to bring Malaysian cooking to the world by sharing with you our family recipes, which we have savored and perfected over generations. « less

The day started when we started going around the wet market exploring the different ingredients we would be using in our cooking and more. The location of Lazat in the suburbs was delightful with a nearby rooster regularly crowing in the distance as we climbed the steps into a traditional Malay house set into the hillside rocks, surrounded by tropical... This is simply a great way to spend half a day, whilst seeing local food markets first hand, being taught to cook some traditional Malay dishes, by charming local people, and then getting to eat it. You also get to meet other like minded people, all intent on enjoying themselves. This is a true experience in every way, even down... More

This is a terrific way to experience Malaysian culture and learn how to cook delicious food. You start out early morning touring a local market with Sue. She shows you all around the bustling place and you meet some very interesting people! From the market you go to the location of the school - in a typical Malay house. It... More

It's been a few weeks since the LaZat experience and have been to other courses since. When I attended there were four people total taking the morning course. Without a doubt this was the best course I have been in. Our teacher was hilarious with perfect English and did a decent impersonation of Nigella.. Venue was breath taking. For me... More

really enjoyed the LaZat cooking class. I signed up for the chinese malaysian class. We cooked wontons, san choy bao and char kuey teow. The recipes were super tasty and easy to prepare, since most of the ingredients were set out or prepared earlier to make it easy. It was pricey, but definitely worth it. The staff were excellent, spoke... More

So glad we did this! The market tour was great, checkout the guys making coconut milk and don't miss roti man upstairs, in 5 secs a ball of dough is transformed. The location is beautiful, rainforest retreat complete with crowing roosters. Ana runs a well organised business, right from the start with prompt emails to the goodbyes at the end.... More

I booked a class for my husband and I and my parents. It was a real highlight of our trip to KL. Although a bit pricey for us, we decided to splurge and felt that it was worth it. The school is extremely well staffed, our instructors were sweet and bubbly and knowledgeable. There was also tons of staff, preparing... More

This was my third cooking class with Ana and her team. I honestly, can't wait for my fourth class. Ana's new location is not only stunning but feels like you are in the heart of the rainforest. Sue Gee and the rest of the Lazat staff provided us a memorable experience that we will cherish forever Her team is professional,... More

My husband and I did the Authentic Malaysian course in late January and really enjoyed it. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The market trip was a brilliant start to the day. The location for the course is lovely with excellent facilities and although our Saturday class was a big group there was plenty of individual support. The food was... More
