Owner description: Space Station is a place where you can enjoy old and new video games while drinking in a bar setting. While the majority of video game bars in Japan have some kind of seating charge, Space Station is very proud to allow free entry. Customers pay only for the drinks. Space Station has the following game machines: Famicom, N.E.S., Genesis, Super Famicom, Super Nintendo, Dreamcast, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Wii, and Wii U. We also provide the Oculus Rift for customers to experience. Close to JR Namba station, as well as Namba subway station.* Owner's addendum: As Space Station climbs the TripAdvisor rankings thanks to the kind reviews of customers, new travelers are coming to Space Station with high expectations. I hope and believe that your expectations will be met when you visit but I have noticed that many patrons are surprised by the size of the bar. Keep in mind that Space Station is a small bar space where there are seats for exactly 16 customers and standing room for perhaps an additional 10 to 15 (max). The bar is open every day 8pm-2am.

As the title says it has games and alcohol. The size may not be big, but for me that adds to the allure. There is a good mix of people here. The service here is always on point, and so is the game selection (playing smash bros the weekend it's out).

We were excited to come to this bar as it was rated number 6 of attractions in Osaka. The place turned out to be a tiny room filled with smoke and noisy Americans. There were perhaps three consoles, all in use, and expensive drinks. Maybe worth it if you are a homesick American gamer but otherwise, give this place a... More

I’m afraid you are mistaken about the number of consoles Michael. There are 12 consoles, 4 times the amount you stated, connected at all times to the 8 displays set up throughout the bar. Those 12 consoles are as follows: Atari 2600, Famicom, Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Famicom, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast,Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 4,... More

If you like to drink and play games you can't go wrong with this place. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and all your old favourites available. Check out the LED stairs and ask to play Nintendo on them.

This bar is located the centre of downtown area in Osaka called Amemura. It's the nicest hidden bar in Osaka. Space station brings back memories of when I was a kid. There are many kinds of video games I used play with my brother. They are almost antique. Atomosphere is really good. Everyone laughing and enjoy playing games. If you... More

This place would have a great atmosphere even if you couldn't play the games, but being able to take trips down so many memory lanes really is just heaps of fun. The drinks are all ¥500, which is easy and reasonable and I got to try an oculus rift! Probably won't hang around for too long if you're not a... More

The Space Station is a really cool place especially for fans of video games. They have almost every game console that ever existed and the prices for drinks are reasonable. The owner of the pub is a very friendly guy and the lady barkeeper Kiwa is pretty cute and have a nice taste in music. Really enjoyed our time there.

Went on a weeknight and still had a blast. Tons of games for just about any console ever made, attentive staff, and just an all around friendly atmosphere of locals and tourists. Grab a game themed shot, play your favorite retro game, or challenge others in the bar to some Mario Kart on the Wii U. Gamer or not, this... More

A nice cozy game-themed bar in the center of Amemura. Space Station's playable LED staircase, Cartridge riddled bar, and Portal-like mirrors are only the first of it's charms! Tons of consoles are set up at and around the bar, ready to play! Matt (the owner) is super knowledgeable, and eager to show off whatever new gadgets have arrived on the... More

Having read the reviews and seen the hype surrounding this bar I've got to say I'm very disappointed with what I experienced. Firstly I thought the bar was going to be bigger than it was, there was about 20 people inside and you couldn't move. My friend and I waited for about 20 mins for a console to become free,... More

Ah yeah, about the size.... I try to manage peoples expectations before coming to Space Station by stating in the TripAdvisor description the size of the bar and the amount of seats we have. I wish everyone would read that before showing up but I certainly don't expect that to be the case. Ah well.. Sorry you had a bad... More

Great little place to kick back and play some games. Drinks are minimum $500 yen but most are much more. Great range and helpful staff but all tourists and westerners. Something worth doing once but would't bother going back.
