Dotonbori Street met our expectations as a great introduction to Japan. The street food vendors had great food from barbecued scallops in the shell to Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, and all kinds of noodles. Fun to walk the entire neighborhood and pop into some basement alley bars for something a little more local.

We stayed at Swissotel Nankai Hotel and took a slow walk to Dotonbori Street. This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Osaka and definitely a place to visit if you are in love with food. Running along the Dotonbori Canal, this street is popular for its nightlife and many restaurants and street stalls that sell various kinds... More

Overall good vibes, the ambience of the neon light streets and the crowds. It was like a dream came true for me as I had this intention of going there to see the Glico Man signage. I was not disappointed, a bit surreal for me. Its just nice and very symbolic of Dotonbori!

This place has everything. Shopping, food, creative stuff... weird stuff. haha! It has everything~! We spent early evening until midnight here, and then went back again the next day. This represents the "beat" of Osaka. Feel it. Read full account here: https://jeffer.wordpress.com/2015/02/07/osaka-japan-2014-dotounbori-street/

After coming from Kyoto, we were greeted by the crazy crowd at Dotonburi. Plenty of shopping & snacks galore & cafes. Get lost in the streets & take in the craziness of the crowd!

It is one of the principal tourist destinations in Osaka, Japan, running along the Dōtonbori canal from Dōtonboribashi Bridge to Nipponbashi Bridge in the Namba district of the city’s Chuo ward. Historically a theater district, it is now a popular nightlife and entertainment area characterized by its eccentric atmosphere and large illuminated signboards.
