Osaka Aquarium My husband was extremely excited to visit this local landmark, it's got a great reputation and I too was interested in what I'd find. The answer is: quite a lot. Like most aquariums around the world Osaka Aquarium is not a whole day trip - it's a couple hours casual browsing at most. However there is a lot... More

I've been to this Aquarium many times and love coming back. One of the places where you can see Dolphins without having to perform in a show. The crown jewels are the Whale Sharks in the main tank. Awesome!

As reviewed by other users, you take a long escalator and start the tour from highest floor and walk towards the ground. You won't feel that you are gradually descending because the walkway is only slightly skewed downward. For me the highlight of Kaiyukan is the huge 4-5 storey water tank inside. It allows visitors to observe sea creatures from... More

We had a great time. I am not really that interested in most exhibits. I do not really notice that many things, but group them all into the big category "fish" but despite that the aquarium had some really special things. - otter exhibit - seals - giant crabs - and a multi-story tank with so many things including whale... Excellent aquarium with some top class exhibits - I'd read about the poor whale sharks but I felt that the size of the tanks were huge and provided enough space. A few more sharks - tiger sharks and bull sharks would have added to the attraction

I had my hopes up for a great time at what I was told to be the best aquarium in Asia. The experience didn't live up to my expectations though. It felt really crammed inside, the translations were very poor, and I do truly not believe it's worth a visit when in Osaka.

Comparing the SEA Aquarium in Sentosa, Singapore and the Osaka Kaiyukan, the Kaiyukan is no match for the SEA Aquarium. SEA Aquarium looks more grand, has a shark tank and has a huge main tank. Kaiyukan's main tank is considerably smaller although it houses the whale shark. The only high point in the Kaiyukan is watching the whale shark, which... More

We had a really fun day at the Aquarium. Highly recommend. Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours there, depending on your level of engagement. For us, we'd love to wait for 15 minutes for the feeding show to start --so, 3 hours was the shortest period we expected. But I knew I could easily spend a whole day there --sitting... More

I grew up on the Atlantic coastline and have been to my share of aquariums around the world. This place is up there with some of the best. They have wildlife that you just don't see in other places and it was super fun for my twins to experience as young learners. Relatively inexpensive as well. Easy access by metro.... More
