Very good aquarium, good size and lots of different sea creatures to see. This is a great attraction especially on a rainy day as it was when I went but that did not stop the crowds as it was jam packed but I can understand why. I was very impressed with the large crabs and the feeding of the Rock... More

I loved seeing all the sharks, jellyfish, penguins and seals, and patting the stingrays. This is the best aquarium I've been to and I would highly recommend it to both solo travelers and families with kids.

The must see Whale Shark is currently off duty. Quite crowded when we were there on a saturday early August. I love visiting aquarium. Visited those in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore (Sentosa) - however not the new one yet, London, Dubai (twice in Atlantic Hotel, Dubai Mall), Bangkok, HongKong Ocean Park, Hokkaido Noboribetsu Zoo, Osaka Kaiyukan contained different types of fish... Another interesting place worth visiting in Osaka beside landmark Osaka castle and USJ, claimed to be second largest aquarium in Japan. Well organized and plan as well as other attractions in Japan. There’s big center tank about 8- level high that you can walk downward from above at the entrance. Unfortunately at the time we visited (Aug2014), the whale shark... More

Very extensive and would go again since it's so close to the station and you can eat lunch next door in the marketplace but I will not go during Obon Week again it was so crowded and hard to squeeze in my small children to see the sea life!

We were staying at Universal Port Hotel and decided to visit this aquarium as it was only a 10 minute boat trip away. We had a flight from Kix later that day and didn't want to travel too far away. I found the aquarium just average and the only highlight for me was the giant spider crabs. There was an... More

This is the 2nd time I go to Kaiyukan. The aquarium is big and nice to walk around. You need at least 3 hours to enjoy everything. However, the whale shark, which is the icon of the aquarium, was not in the largest tank like it used to be. They didn't explain, they just put a sign saying "The whale... More

The whale shark is gone, we are not sure why. The aquarium was well done and interesting. Worth a trip if you are traveling with kids.

I spend and evening in the aquarium und had a wonderful experience. It is open until 8pm. There is a large variety if species displayed and the atmosphere feels laid back. While you walk along the tanks relaxing music is played. Coming from Europe, I was amazed by the numerous animals that could be observed and it really made no... More
