Kaiyukan is a fun place for singles, couples or a whole family. The building is cool, the tanks are big, and the fish are absolutely majestic. If you are traveling with kids, this place is a must. You can leave your stroller at the front and explore the aquarium at your own pace. There is a space towards the end... More

I went to Kaiyukan with the sole purpose of seeing the whale shark and was expecting it to steal the show but to be honest, there was only one whale shark and it was pretty small. But nevertheless, the aquarium didn't fail to deliver a wide variety of animals from different regions! If you like animals, this is a great... More

While the area around this aquarium seems past its glory days, the aquarium does not disappoint. Multi story fish tanks are the norm here. Great experience. If you speak Japanese and own a Nintendo ds, bring it for a free audio tour.

I have been dragged through so many lame zoos and aquaria when kids were younger. I did not really want to go until I checked it out on trip advisor. This was the highlight of our 3 days in Osaka. Try and get a special all inclusive rail ticket to score a discount on the aquarium, Ferris wheel and Osaka... More

This is a great Aquarium with not just fish but dolphins, seals, otters and tiny intricate jellyfish. It's very well designed and easy to navigate, starting at the top and making your way down the floors and exhibits. I went at 6pm so it wasn't crowded and had great viewing of all the exhibits, although I did miss feeding times... More

Though this place is not the biggest in terms of size, we consider this place as one of the best! They have a lot of rare species from all over the world. They have very informative data on each thus you have to spare two hours at least as for the whole family to enjoy. Those with Nintendo gadgets would... More

Overall, it's a nicely designed, laid-out aquarium. The central tank houses a whale shark, a hammerhead, some mantas, and some other larger fish. A unique feature about this aquarium is that you start out on the 4th level, and see all of the varieties from above the surface, and then proceed down several levels, seeing different perspectives and animals from... The aquarium was good fun for a family with younger kids. The Penguins and the petting pool were the highlights for us. Like many other reviewers I was hesitant to visit this aquarium as I don't agree with confining many of the creatures in such small tanks especially a whale shark. however when you travel with family everyone gets a... Small aquarium to some of what I've seen before. The tanks for what they are in seemed very small, I know zoos etc. Are not animal friendly but this was quite bad. I wouldn't go back. Comparing it to the one in Lisbon Portugal , quite disappointing....

The layout of the aquarium was very friendly. there are ample benches for seating along the galleries which was great for our elderly family members. the aquariums are very interesting and well kept and watching the feeding of the animals was great fun.
