Excellent modern aquarium with a wide variety of aquatic & other wildlife. Lots of large tanks and an absolutely huge one with a fantastic selection of sharks & rays as well as a sizeable whale shark. Plenty of info on Wikipedia listing what is there. Looked great for kids too and has a shallow pool where you can get touchy... More

Very big and lots to see... but entrance fee a bit costly though. Still worth going if you have free time.

This is my favorite among the aquariums I've visited so far. It's well-maintained. It has a well-designed layout. There's a lot of different types of animals as well as souvenirs. We visited on a Monday around noon, so it wasn't crowded. Furthermore, we were lucky enough to see the penguins and another animal that I don't know the name of... More

It was one of our last travels while in Japan and we decided to touch Osaka traveling with a 4 month infant. Frankly I enjoyed the NagoyaKo Kaiyukan better. This one is though more at peace and tranquility. You will like the varied species of Jelly fish to be amusing along with the huge tank of whales. And if you're... More

Very huge aquarium. Absolutely world class! Routes are very clear inside the place so you won't miss anything. A tip: you can purchase a package ticket directly from the kansai airport station (nankai line) counter. Just tell the officer that you want to go to kaiyukan and they will sell you a package ticket which includes discounted kaiyukan entry pass... More

After Okinawa's "Chura Umi", I can't enjoy any other aquarium. So in comparison, this was pretty average, with one small whale shark and no Manta Rays, which are my favorite.

When I said I wanted to go to the aquarium my two friends criticised me for going to an animal prison. However, lots of the animals had space and they seemed well cared for. It was more of an open prison than an Abu Ghraib style set up. It's not cheap (upwards of 2000 Yen) but I would probably recommend... More

A great day out for both young and old. You start up on the 8th level and work your way down, circling the Pacific rim exploring each habitat from different depths. I've only been to one other aquarium (western Australias AQWA) and in comparison is cheaper, Better organised and more variety of species but Unfortunately looking a bit more tired.... More

You will walk from top to bottom via a helical path. That new to me and good idea. So you can see them from different angles. The space for you is small, so be there early to avoid the crowd. You can rent out english commentary which i did but did not use it, lolz. It was summer, so penguins... More
