Awesome zoo and they even have a Kiwi

My husband and I had a fun time at this zoo today. We were able to use our Osaka 2 day pass to get entry to the zoo,but I think it is pretty cheap to get in anyway. It was... read more

Entrance For adults was ¥500 and children ¥200. It was nice! It was a good size- you can finish in 2-3hrs. Animals were healthy; toilets clean; food on sight. We took the red line and went off on Dobutsuen stop. Walked about 10mins, walk was interesting passing thru lots of restaurants. Highly recommended.

My husband and I had a fun time at this zoo today. We were able to use our Osaka 2 day pass to get entry to the zoo,but I think it is pretty cheap to get in anyway. It was quite a mission finding the zoo as the subway exit sign for the zoo is not correct and took us... More

I was highly disappointed with the lack of cleanliness of the animals enclosures as well as the lack of space they have to roam in. The first enclosure I came across was the polar bears and it was miserable. The enclosure looked like it hadn't been renovated or repainted in years. The bears in the next enclosures were distressed and... More

I wasn't sure how many animals would be out since it was a rainy day, but I wasn't disappointed. Entry is only 500 yen and I spent a good few hours there. It is very easy to get to - a short walk from Tennoji station, near the art museum. You can see the place has been let run down,... More

It's near the tower called Tsutenkaku(通天閣) where there are many shops selling fried food skew (kushiyaki) around. You can see a polar bear, lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes and many kinds of birds. The zoo is not very new, but its size is adequate for visitors with young children. It might take one to two hours to walk around in the... More

We visited the zoo on our last day in Japan as it was near the hotel where we were staying. While some of the enclosures were good, others were not adequate at all. It seemed that the animals that needed less space were given much nicer and bigger enclosures. For example, the koala enclosure was massive. They had one of... More

Small enclosures, dirty, metal minimal attempt at recreating the natural habitat and no mental stimulus. All the animals, especially the chimps, polar bears, hyena and tigers appeared stressed and looked quite unhealthy. It broke our hearts walking through there and seeing how little care and respect was given to these animals. They keep them in small cramped cages so they... More

The Tennoji Zoon needs a lot of help. The spaces for the animals are too small, and dirty to be a good environment for them to live in. They also need more stimulus to keep them active. Many of the animals exhibited signs of distress from being in such small, dirty cages. They’re body language was that of nervousness and... More
