I'm fortunate to see the sakura festival in Japan mint Osaka. The sakura was wonderful and tradional market during the festival was also wonderful albeit the prices were relative expensive at this market.

Varieties of sakura trees in the garden. Best to go around cherry blossom season. Not very to find the mint building itself though.

The Japan Mint may be famous for its cherry blossoms, but the Mint Museum alone is well worth a visit. The viewing period is in mid-April, but the exact period is announced only in early or mid-March. This year the viewing period was 16-22 April, and we were there on the first day.... More

We lucked out when the timing of our trip to Osaka happened to coincide with the one week a year the Osaka Mint opens to the public for sakura viewing. While it was extremely crowded with locals and tourists alike, there are many, many trees and the excitement in the air is truly infectious. As a bonus, local street food... More

Make sure you come early April as the cherry blossoms do not last that long. We were very lucky to experience such wonderful colors.
