We visited at the end of the day about an hour before it closed when it was quite quiet. It's a very peaceful place and the gardens are pretty, you can also walk around the temple itself which was cool, would recommend.

It's located near Chioin & Kodaiji temple. I love walking near here toward Kiyomizu-dera. I viseted here & enjoyed colored leaves. It's so beautiful & I'll visit here again with my wife.

There was a fair bit of construction going on around when we landed around Shoren-in temple, despite which we had a really good walk around the Worship Path here. The path is beautiful - peaceful and tranquil, with tonnes of greenery around. There are a fair number of steps to climb if you'd like to go up to the Chon-in... More

An interesting shrine, but is less colourfull and less interesting than others I saw in Kyoto. The Gong is nice, and so is the garden. The building is fully accessible with several wall paintings.

After I visited Kenninji Temple, I walked up to Shorenin Temple. Because I was so impressed by the great artworks in Kenninji, I was disappointed at Shorenin with few great artworks. I read others' reviews and it seemed to me that most of them liked the night illumination. Because Kyoto is a tourism-oriented city, it is understandable to use a... More

The garden and the sort of temple were amazing. Old paintings, koy fishes, combination of houses and the garden was wonderful.

Incredibly beautiful temple. The night time illuminations were very beautiful, and walking through the garden at night was delightful! I haven't seen the temple during the day but would love to do so! I recommend seeing the illumination if you get the chance!

We went for the fall night time illumination, and it was just beautiful. Not what I expected (I thought it would be more fall colored trees), but the bamboo was amazing. We are very glad we went!

It's a quite and peaceful temple where to meditate and recharge your soul. The best part is the garden, not to mention the pond you can admire from a room inside. I could sit there and contemplate for hours.

Just in the middle of two important temple (Heian Jingu & Yasaka Shrine), it was a really agreeable surprise to find such a nice and quiet temple during our journey. The garden is gorgeous and you can sit an contemplate it from an inside (and warm) room. Totally worth it !
