Big temple but the main hall is now on works. Looks more like a palace and has very quiet gardens, but the interiors are not very interesting (what is open now).

This small quiet temple is a peaceful haven in a town where many of the sites are bustling with tour groups and other tourists. Many small rooms overlook a lovely garden, and you can walk through the rooms to see some lovely painted panels and other little treasures. Not a long stop, but worth it!

This was a small temple but the ambiance was excellent. No big fuss about anything and really time for some contemplation. It was quite nice to take a walk in the garden.

The temple itself isn't big and nothing spectacular. However, the garden is something. Eventhough the weather was quite hot, I didn't feel that hot in the garden. If you're planning to go to there on summer, watch out for the mosquitoes!

This is one of my favorite temples in Kyoto. It's small in comparison to the bigger, fancier temples, but it has a lovely garden walk and a nice group of buildings connected by the handsome covered and elevated walkways. The views from one of the buildings into another bigger one across a small courtyard is very special and all the... More

If you are looking for a quite temple with a beautiful garden that's the place. It is a bit off the usual temple route but still in the area just next to some big sites. The garden is very pretty and as they are nit that many people you can really enjoy a quite moment there

as a nice break away from the temples, this garden and tea room are a perfect option. it's not too busy, the entrance fee is fairly reasonable and you can just sit on the tatami mats with some great tasting green tea. make sure to do the full inhouse and outdoor tour. both are well worth it.

Almost templed-out by the time we got there :) Still worth a visit and enjoy the peaceful gardens. It was nice to see the changes happening with the trees in October.
