The class was well prepared. There were 4 of us in the session which was a good number so that we all got some hands on experience. It was great that she went through history first of Japanese foods, even as far as explaining about different crockery being used in different seasons. The meal at the end was delicious (if... More

My girlfriend and I stumbled across Kaori's class during a particularly rainy day in Kyoto. I think we were lucky to get a place as we booked in on the day, so definitely try and book in advance if you can. Kaori has a really beautiful place in which she provides her class. A lot of effort has gone into... More

This cooking class was absolutely the no. 1 highlight of my trip. Kaori was really lovely, has fantastic english and was very knowledgable about the culture, customs and techniques of Japanese cooking. The class is a bargain considering you get a huge meal as well as a class.

An amazing experience if looking for an authentic Japanese culinary adventure. Kaori was a wonderful teacher, reflecting a genuine interest in what she does and also in her visitors. The food was delicious and also can be easily replicated, with a recipe provided. All the food was delicious and will definitely attempt to make back home. Highly recommended and very... More

We are a family of five (children ages 11 through 19) and had a great time taking a cooking class with Kaori. We asked her to teach us vegetarian cuisine. It was wonderful. Kaori speaks wonderful English and clearly has a desire to share her culture with others. We all had a great time and learned a lot. The spinach... More

A wonderful 2 weeks in Japan with just one free day in Kyoto, and we chose to spend part of it cooking with Kaori. Although the city is filled with wonderful attractions, this was a great choice! Kaori is passionate about food, cooking and her culture; her handouts included not only recipes for the session, but also information on how... More

We took the sushi and soup class from Kaori. The class was held in the first floor of her inn and was about a 5-10 minute walk from the Nijo station JR station/ Tozai subway station. The directions and map provided were excellent, but it took us a few minutes to get oriented once we walked out of the subway,... More

If you're heading to Kyoto and love food and cooking, then this class is for you! It was just myself and my partner who got a lovely one on two class with the owner of the Inn; Kaori. We choose the teriyaki class, but you could also do sushi making. It was a very hands on class with great guidance,... More
