We arranged a surprise for your 2 boys (9 and 10) as they are mad on Samurai, now that they know more about them. We arrived at 10 and the boys were given the special socks they would be wearing with split toes, which although small added to the whole thing. They were then led into the dojo (room) where... More

The manor in which the participants were able to display their marksmanship. I was impressed. Sorry that some of the participants were not able to hit their targets.

There first part of this is a 1 hour show done by masters. Very entertaining and they are very skillful. The 2nd part is a picture frenzy and some katana wielding lessons. 3rd part you get dressed up as a samurai, learn more about katana wielding and then you perform a dance. Perfect way to spend 3.5hours. The whole thing... More

What a blast! We had so much fun as a couple. We did the full lesson with costume, which in my opinion was totally worth it. The instructor was great, she had a wonderful sense of humor and taught us very interesting things about the art of Samurai movement. This was a highlight in our trip and something we will... More

Samurai kembu is really committed to keeping the tradition and art form of the Samurai alive. The entire staff were kind, welcoming and patient. My wife and I chose the 2 hr session. We shared the first hour with another couple who were there for the show and we got a special class alone for the second hour. The artistry... More

Where can I start? My husband and I unfortunately arrived late to our lesson but this was not a problem for Master Auga. He was gentle and calm, talked us through our moves and answered any questions we had. We learned a sequence of moves and when each move would be appropriate, we were dressed in traditional dress, had loads... More

To visit Samurai kembu in Kyoto is a fun way to learn more about the ancient japan warriors and their weapon, clothes and traditionel movements. We chose the 2 hour option, with one hour demonstration/show and one hour costume and sword moves. Great with cosutme fotos! At our visit, it was only the two of us, so if you are... More

This experience was incredible. The place really commits to keeping the spirit of the samurai alive through a little known art to foreigners. I left with a much deeper appreciation of samurai and their world view. That's not something you can get just anywhere. It's one thing to read about it, and a whole different thing to participate in it.... More

This was a perfect afternoon for our group. We are two families traveling together and while our wives and daughters were having some Geisha fun on their own, we two dads and sons (12 years old) spent the afternoon at Samurai Kembu Kyoto learning more about this part of the Japanese culture as well as actively participating. We enjoyed it... More
