I've lived below Mt. Rokko (六甲山, Rokkō-san) since August and I've visited Mt. Rokko four times. I love it up there. The views are incredible at times and obscured by clouds at other times. From the turret at the Garden Terrace, you can see Awaji Island and the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge from Awaji to Kobe near Maiko beach. From the... More

It was something to do... The view on a clear day would be much better but even cloudy it was interesting. The cable railway is probably 2 times as long as the Hong Kong peak tram but same idea. Rokko is the way to go as the other cable and trams close much earlier. Lemon beer and honey tea at... More

Since it was a bit late, I was only able to go as far as the view deck at the cable car station at dusk. It was nice to see Kobe below transform from day to night. It was very cold and hazy though and visibility was a bit hampered. It could've been much better on a clear day so... More

I came to Rokko just for the stunning observatory and I was not disappointed, though in the winter, be prepared for wind, with earmuffs and gloves. Even pulling out my phone for pictures left my hands painfully cold. It's also high enough so that it snows, even though the rest of Kobe is fine. This was one of those moments... More

We went up solely for the snow park because our children wanted to play with snow. There was no real snow. But the snow machine churned out plenty of ice. Good enough for them to have some fun making small snowmen. We also tried snow sledding. Rented the sleds at 500yen each (must put a refundable deposit of 1000yen per... More

I'd recommend this place for those who like the views from the top of the mountain. Mt. Rokko is actually not something someone could call a climbing or even hiking challenge. Go up with the cable car, eat lunch or drink something admiring the views on Rokko and Port Island at the same time on the restaurant's terrace, have a... More

I took the Cablecar up to the top of the mountains and then hiked down. The panorama is rewarding, and visible as soon as you exit the cablecar. The hike itself was a solid workout. It is a steep descent, but the path is well-maintained with lots of log steps and is signposted in Japanese. This is a beatiful location.

Nice drive up winding mountain roads and brilliant view of the Kansai region. Popular restaurant, but probably the least good food/value for money I have had in Japan, so eat elsewhere. On a cloudy/hazy day, it's clearly not worth the trip up there

On a clear day a person can see to…can see for miles and mile. A long winding climb up a steep grade finds one above the city with a grand harbor view.
