Great gardens, I travelled during April, so grass had not yet grown back from the winter / snow coverage.
Sapporo can be pretty bleak in winter, and Odori Park is no exception. Even in late April or early May, when the rest of Japan is green, the trees will be bare and the skies grey. Odori Park is at its best in the summer, when flowers are in bloom and various events are held, but even then it's still... More
we went there Early April, it still cold and not much to see. it's just ordinary park, and you can just see the TV tower at the back and took photos. if you come early or Late May, this will be a good spot, where you can see cherry blossom all around the park.
Visited in early spring. They have just removed whatever was left from Sapporo Winter Festival and still a bit messy. Temperature is still cold, dropping to 0 degree or less at night. In about a month, should be able to see flowers at boulevard and cherry blossoms. Would be a better time to visit then, sitting under the cherry blossoms,... More
We went all the way there hoping to see a green/snow filled park but on the contrary, it was dull, wet and gloomy during this time. No activity or life when we visited. Go spend your time elsewhere.
We tried to walk to the park when it was heavily snowing. Everything at the park was covered in snow, didn't get to see much, but we had fun with the snow filled park
Odori park was the place to held Sapporo winter festival, the park was big, unfortunately if you go not in Winter festival, the place seem dull and not interesting.
This park hosts the snow festival in early February. You can see some skiiers performing tricks, go ice skating and look at the numerous ice sculptures around the park. It makes a great day's entertainment.
This park is another attractive place to visit if you go to Sapporo. Especially in Sapporo snow festival period, here is one of the sights of the festival for snow scrupture. Amazing and easy to walk. There is an underground walk way from Sapporo station to Oodori station! No need to use bus or subway. There are some restaurant in... More
Awesome ice structures carved by the Japan military. Very impressive. Quite crowded but everyone very orderly. Wear sturdy snow walking boots as ground can get very slippery.
