I have challenged to walk around this world heritage though stopping by ten Xihu sightseeing places except Santanyinyue. It was taken about for 4.5 hours with having lunch by normal walking speed. My best spot in there was Beishanlu. You can see temples, Zhejiang province certified cuisine restaurant, and experience the local life (many local people was relaxing, dancing etc.).... More

This lake is beautiful, and it is a rare opportunity to have a peaceful walk in nature right in the middle of a big Chinese city. We walked the long causeway across the lake, and then we grabbed a tram on the way back (I think it was 10 or 15 RMB). There are lots of scenic spots that are... More

We did a bike trip with my wife along one of the causeways, and the lake views were very beautiful and photogenic, especially at sunset. A lot of tourists on the causeway though, even in January which is off-peak.

Loved the huge expanse of the lake. RMB 1 has a pic of this lake. Although the one in the currency is probably morphed (Baochu Pagoda and the "Three Ponds/Pools Mirroring the Moon" cannot be seen together the way it is in the note, it felt great to see them in person. the beauty of the lake is simply breath-taking,... Biggest touristic attraction in Hangzhou but well worth it. Very scenic lake, spectacular colourful water shows in the evening, lots of shops and restaurants along the lake front.

It has magnificent scenery and a relaxing atmosphere. Our guide said that if there wasn't this lake in Hangzhou, it would have been ugly, it's kind of true.

I can hardly find the words to describe best the beauty of West Lake in a short post here. It was the best spot we visited during our New Year's holidays and we feel happy we decided to go there as a day trip while staying in Shanghai. We walked all around the lake (approximately 12 Km) and took us... More

The lake is a beautiful place to visit and walk around. You can take a boat out on it and there is also a nice fountain show, set to peaceful music. Next to the lake is an interesting old map of the city, set into the ground.
