By xihu, for RMB150 / hour can get boatman to paddle us from one side of xihu to the other side. This is hard work and takes the full hour. After that they even do a little survey to see if one enjoyed the trip.Â
There are all these big boats but with the smaller boat things are so much more cosy and it's easier to enjoy the lake. Also because this is a good way to escape the crowds. One also gets to appreciate the vastness of the lake on the boat. We are also traveling at the level of the lake

Bring your family, your friend, to visit Hangzhou. It really is the city of heaven. I have never seen any city can be so clean, so beautiful, so relax, and having so much delicious food.

We have visited this scenic spot by late April but it was raining in the morning at the time of our visit. There were souvenir shops, coffee houses and resting houses around while part of the area had been hoarded off for renovation works to pave way for the coming G20 function in September. Despite of the inclement weather, there were still many people traveling around underneath the willow trees or enjoying the Xihu sceneries on the hired boats. Indeed a relaxing atmosphere that could not be found elsewhere. Recommend others to come along to share the pleasant environment.

The Xihu tourist area undergo major change in traffic control some years ago and buses are no longer allowed to stop near main entrances to Xihu. Visitors have to walk at least 1 KM to reach lakeside.
Xihu was crowded even though we went during weekday. We went for cruise ride but there was not much to see apart from muddy water.
Generally, Xihu is overrated.
