We enjoyed the Impression Westlake Show and thought it was World Class. The acrobats are wonderful and the finale with the motorbikes in a circular type cage was really amazing. I can thoroughly recommend the show.

A spectacular on water 100's of performers float on and in water of West Lake with natural backdrop of hills, greenery of Hangzhou. Based on Chinese stories of the landmarks of West Lake. Fusion of old and new China in performance. Conceived and by famed Beijing Olympics Director.
From the opening of the show, we were all memerised and astounded ..
On a stage a few inches under the waters surface, hundreds of actors dancing , moving in unison.. The lighting is spectacular, using the natural scenery / trees .. the logistics/ effects of framework rising out of the water is amazing. For a westerner the story line is...

This was the second time I have seen this show. The first time we splashed out for top seats that were a complete waste of $$. This time we took middle price and they were actually better. Getting first row would be better though as we had very chatty Chinese distraction behind us.
This show is worth the cost. If the weather is not so great - rain or cold- the VIP seats are great. The only objection is the lenghth of the performance. After a while it looses spectaluraity. It is still worth going to. Hundreds of actors dancing on the lake (on a platform a few inches below the water).
Have seen lots of these shows - cirque du soliel and other zhang yimou ones but this one was an experience all of its own. The start of the show's literally breathtaking. There are bits of the show that's ordinary but all in all, when in Hangzhou, Impression Westlake's a must-do.
If looking for a quick bite before the show,...

This is a series of three short Chinese plays acted out in a very modern style on a lake. The stage is an inch or so below the water surface so the performers appear to be walking on water. A lot of modern choreography and a large number of performers. To me as a westerner there is a lot lost...

At the start wow, its built up so much and the effects were great. However by the end of the third act nobody really applauded as it just fizzled out and then before we knew it the whole play was over. Very short considering people pay 250 rmb per seat for a 55 minute show tops. Wouldnt do it again...

This show was designed by famed director Zhang YiMou. It's a great way to spend an evening in Hangzhou. This show is staged on a stage set in the waters of the West Lake. It's about 70 minutes long and entirely in Chinese. Even though I don't speak a word, the story is pretty easy to guess. Boy meets girl,...

The entry to the show pavilion is across Beishan Road opposite the Temple of Yue Fei - not where Google maps indicates. The show started at 7:45pm and lasted for about 1 hour. All 5 acts were spectacular with regards to the lighting, artistic composition and technology, that included a large lit triangular structure that rose out of the water...
