Amazing indeed

Though I came in the wrong season but it was still a treat to the eyes. So beautiful and the weather was good. Do visit in May which I told you will see more of the "reds" .

Was planning on taking the bus straight from Kunming to the Red Lands but there are only two busses early in the morning and I got into Kunming 昆明 in the later afternoon so I decided to take the bus to DongChuan 东川 which is a little out of the way of the Red Lands. The bus ride took about... More

I've seen pictures of the place many times; so I was driven to go see it when I was in Kunming. I was there for 2 weeks, but only had time during the weekend in between. I hired an excellent local guide, who's also an English teacher, to take me there on an overnight journey. I must say, the place... More

We loved this quaint area. We arrived the first week in November but missed the peak colors. They had just finished harvesting half the crops. The colors were still stunning. Reds, oranges, and greens spotted throughout the mountain terraces. It was a little out of the way. Took about 6 hours total from Kunming and 2 different buses. Very easy... More

An absolute jewel. We visited it in November and although being cold and not really a perfect day, cloudy followed by rain and wind, It is a must see place in Yunnan. Located 3.5 / 4 hours by car from Kunming. We actually went in a far remote village, Huagou, and the only Hotel there isn't comfortable at all: but... More

Went there in Sept. 2015 in a group tour, one of the best times in the year to see the colorful fields with a mix of colours. The road was quite bad in some sections but the tour bus driver was skillful. There were different parts in the Red Land, each with its own attractive views. Best to get there... More

Laterite field in Dongchuan create a unique landscape. It is one of the most interesting places in Yunnan. Rarely visited by tourists, which should be considered as an advantage of this place. Mountainous terrain covered with a network of fields present themselves beautifully in the sunshine. Amazing color is created by a red laterite soil!

It is not an easy way to get to Dongchuan but it is really worth going there. Just remember to come in right time . Autumn is the best for sure. You will be rewarded by unforgettable and awesome sights of many coloured and different shaped mountain fields.

First of all i would like to say that this place is breathtaking! Absolutely beautiful! far from any noise of cities and towns. You should go there as soon as possible, as there is lot of work over there on the mountain with some heavy tools. I did a day trip from Kunming, i wanted to share so you know... More
