Not perfect weather on the day I visited, still feel quite stunning views. A combination of natural wonder and human. From the camera lens, such rare nature palette, keep us running up and down to find the best angles. The new highway from Kunming to Redland allow me only one day return. Though rush, all because no information to find... More

Be ready for some bumpiness. Pitstop for toilets are open doors with no flushing system. If you can't take the "fragrance" hold back on your water consumption as the ride takes about 3.5 hours. However, once there you will enjoy the view and have the opportunity to take some memorable photos. They have these "ancient looking elders" who forms part... More

Not to different than other landscape in Yunnan or China ... but close to Kunming (4 hours drive). The best time is when the soya fields are in flower. Other seasons is soso: just red soil or corn or potatoes plantation is not enough. Beautiful when soya fields are in flower.

We visited the red earth terraces in March, driving from Kunming, staying overnight and then driving back to Kunming the following day. Having my time over and knowing what I know now, I doubt if I would do it again. With three to four hours driving each way it was a long way to drive just to see terraced fields,... More

I am so glad not to have missed Dongchuan. The views in the area are superb and although it is recommended that travellers stay there overnight to see sunset/sunrise I did not have the time and still felt I saw a lot. The way there is beautiful, there is nothing to do once in the area except look around at... More

Situated about 4 hrs from Kunming City, DongChuan is a relatively un-commercialized part of Yunnan. Famed for the reddish earth which lends beautiful and contrasting hues against the quiltwork of farmed land and surrounding mountains, DongChuan offers truly colorful and spectacular scenery along with a chance to explore the colorful rural lifestyle of the tribal people of the area. It... More

Provided a wonderful and scenic background that is extremely suitable for photography. The colors change with the season, and for me maybe the most beautiful period was mid autumn. If you are looking for more natural beauty like this, you could try Mu Cang Chai in Vietnam.

One of the best attractions near Kunming. It is quite far from Kunming City, and would require a change of bus. If traveling independently, be informed that there is only one public bus a day, and once you reach the place you'll have to wait until the next morning to return. There are several hotels spread out in the area... More

This is a must visit venue for all photography enthusiasts. Every season offers different colours and scenic views. We were there in late November and even though some of the crops have been harvested, the landscape was still stunning. We left immediately from the airport upon arrival on an evening flight. It took us more than 3 hours through dark... More

Most people only stayed overnight at the Red Land. That was also my original plan but I like the hoteI so much that I ended up staying for three nights and enjoyed the very scenic walks of the area. It's a beautiful courtyard hotel with expensive wooden furniture and tasteful decorations. I think worth a visit even if you are... More
