Not the best place we visited but well worth a look. Nice view of Xi'an from top. Quite a few steps to negotiate and no lift available. You can hire bikes to go round the whole wall if you want at quite a cheap price but we didn't bother

The Xi'an City Wall is definitely one of the most impressive landmarks in China. It's really huge, hundreds of years old, spans 14km around the city, and is quite well preserved. You can walk around or rent a bike. From up there, you get a good impression of the city and the surrounding. At night the whole city wall is... More

This is a the place to visit for a great view of Xi'an. The city wall is well-represerved and filled with locals and tourists, alike. Definitely a worthwhile stop in Xi'an.

This is the sole remaining city wall in the Sesuan Provence, the remainder all having been destroyed during the Cultural Revolution of the 1960's. It's a remarkable piece of engineering, ringing the City and being a total of 9 miles long. At the base it is 12 metres wide, and the walkway at the top is 10 metres wide.a 5... More

On a sunny day, when it is not too warm, go to the Xi'an city wall and walk from one gate to another. There are 4 gates, on the East, South, West and North side of the wall, which is in great condition. The wall itself is a beautiful structure, at the time built to protect the city from the... More

My husband and I rode 2-seated bike and went the whole round. It was so much fun!! Entering from South gate is standard so most of the people enter from here so ticketing office is crowded. It may be efficient to use other entrance. Be careful on your bike when you leave it away from you. We stopped by at... More

Xi'an as a city, although ancient, is not at all ancient from all angle. That expectation aside if you decide to cycle the circumference, be ready to spend at least a couple of hours. The ride is not totally easy, at some point I was thinking, "are we there yet?". Do not ride if you're not ready to cycle for... More

XIAN was one of our must do items on our 4 week China trip to see the terracotta warriors. We pictured an ancient wall containing an old town within with leisurely walking around the village interacting with village people and life. We were surprised to see much of the old town has been engulfed by buildings and shops and modern... More
