This tour was extraordinary. We spent time walking on the wall viewing the old part of Xian and the new part. The history and sightseeing was breathtaking. We enjoyed very much this particular site.

Unfortunately we were on a tour of China so had only 40 mins to explore the wall. This was not enough time to walk very far and return, or enough time to hire a bike and ride round. We felt this could have been a fun thing to do. We did enjoy the time we spent here, but it wasn't... More

You must prepare to walk a long distance from one gate to another in circular route. Most visitors chose to cycle, it took roughly 2 hrs to go around the four gates - NSEW if on bike ride. But we ascended from Heping Gate to the South gate. South gate is regarded as most magnificent. A good experience to walk... More

Nice to look at from the outside, and even better once you climb up (only 70-some steps). If you have time, you can rent a bicycle and make the whole circuit. Walking along presents some nice glimpses of activity in the city center.

If you are going to ride a bike around the top of the city wall make sure you go in the right gate! It can mean a long walk to the bike rental area if yiu don't, which is what happened to me!

The idea of such a mamouth construction around a city is quite astounding. It is in good condition but hard to tell what is original and what is renovated. I guessed its all pretty carefully renovated. You are offered a ride around the top of the wall in a golf cart. We did it with the hope of seeing some... More

How lucky is the city of Xi'an to have the intact treasure of the old city wall. A truly impressive structure that runs some 15 kms around the old city. Bike hire is available on top of the wall at each of the four gates and makes for a great two hour ride. Stone surface on the wall bike path... More

A worthwhile attraction to visit but it's worth allowing enough time to hire a bike (from on top of the wall itself) to cycle around the whole wall

Visually impressive to my eyes and rated as one of the most interesting dinner city walls and battlements I have seen in China affording walks ideal for that special photo shoot and maintained to a very high standard as if time had stood still what an imposing citadel this must have been in ancient times, within the walls you will find... We wish we had the time to bike on top of the wall, but being on a tighter tour schedule time did not allow. At night the gates are lite up,as is the perimeter, and worth seeing. But lights are off around 10-10:30pm,
