Awesome to see lit up at night

Along with it's partner the Bell Tower, the Drum tower is truly beautiful to see all lit up in the veins. It is in a busy place and conveniently located in the Muslim quarter.

this is the center of Xi"an and and is very busy. There are tunnels under the intersection to be able to cross the street as the traffic is heavy. There are many modern stores and plazas surrounding it as well as the Drum Tower, Bell Tower and Muslim Quarter. It is a great place to visit day or night. Lots... More

A quiet, green space that, in the morning, hosts many large and small groups of locals doing dance, tai chi and other exercise. A lovely way to start the day.

If you like crowds and are interested in street food the area around the tower is great. The vendors are a little agressive, and the street food is variable and comes with a western tax. My trick was to line up behind a Chinese patron, watch what was received and what was paid, and ask for the same thing. Fried... More

Really wonderful area to visit, lots of history and lots of lovely scenery and views from the walls surrounding the city.

Awesome and colourful sight at night, though day viewing is fine. Stroll among noisy local groups, snacks can be bought from the many food stalls around the sight. Be careful crossing streets. Not everyone abides by road rules......what rules?!

The Drum Tower had been suggested by others as a "must see" but we were disappointed by the huge crowds, many of them in groups of 40 to 50 people, who kept us from taking good photographs or seeing anything up close. Skip this one and see something similar elsewhere.

I traveled to Xian and stayed for three nights. Time was just right. Bus number 603 travels from the Sofitel and Grand Mercure hotels where I stayed. The bell tower is in the immediate center of the circle and Drum tower adjacent. The fee is nominal about 35 yuan . Once atop you see giant drums used in ceremonies. The... More

The drum tower is nice but there is not much to see inside the tower. They had a collection of drums but nothing you would miss if you already been into a museum. There are performances so make sure to enter the tower when they are performing since its one time admission no re-enter (30 rmb for student 60 for... More
