Pingchau! And a wee boat ride! Just lovely.

We enjoyed the boat trip, seeing all the water buffaloes and people fishing. The river where we were was quite shallow, so my buddy and I found cold beers on the boat, sat out the... read more

We enjoyed the boat trip, seeing all the water buffaloes and people fishing. The river where we were was quite shallow, so my buddy and I found cold beers on the boat, sat out the front and watched China and the dragons teeth go by! My partner and I enjoyed the walk through the village leading too the boat. Lots... More

The main purpose when we decided to visit Guilinn is visit the Lijiang river. Although we went on rained day, but it's still beautiful. Place has less foreign visitor.

Peaceful well kept gardens. There is a lot of walking but you will want to keep going. Fantastic scenery. Not sure what the enterance fee was as it was included in our tour but it was expensive for tourists. I loved visititing there and everyone was very helpful and shops inside were good value. Of course you have to bargain... More

Marvellous scenic view of the hills and water. BUT this postcard view has been spoilt by ugly concrete houses popping up every corner of the landscape. The locals must be upgrading. Met another traveller. It is his second visit after 30 years. He is just as disappointed.

Best experience in Guilin. Great day trip to see the famous mountains including the background for the 20 yuan bill. Be prepares for almost none english speakers, we were helped by others chinese tourists during the whole trip. However, the view of the mountains and Li River compensates language challenge, worth every penny.

Today we took a lovely walk up the river to find the Lijiang Folk Customs Garden. We found it. It is indeed all closed down. One could see what they used to provide: cock fighting and horse fighting to list two. We went next door to a shop that was open and the man who spoke English very well said... More

Very confused how this is number 1 on trip advisor as the place was locked up and looked as it had suffered from a fire... A local woman told us it has been closed for 10 years?!?!?

A very scenic place to visit. A fresh green view around, water, and cliff. Don't forget to bring your camera, because you will get a beautiful landscape shots around here. Find a traditional boat, and take a photos with traditional local dress here :)

Lots of things happening here. You can walk around investigating the area which is lovely. Have a photo taken with a fishing bird. dressing up in traditional costume, do some souvenir shopping or just have some food and coffee and enjoy the scenery. It was a love day out and the weather was good to us.
