Akhmatova lived in this flat with her then-husband and his ex-wife. You'll see plenty of personal belongings and pieces of furniture there, look into the famous mirrors that feature in her "Poem without a hero", read some of her manuscripts and feel the atmosphere. Allow an hour for the visit, it is worth it.

If you are fascinated by this woman's life and/or poetry, this is someplace you don't want to miss. Although the Fontanny Dom is called a palace, what it really gives you is an insight into her life in the collectives' apartments created during and after the 1917 Revolution . Taking too long in the communal toilet, too much hanging wet... More

Difficult to find and we never got in although we walked through pouring rain. Seems to be an issue here as three museums were shut despite researching in advance

Whether a fan of Achmatova or just want to learn more about the poetess, this museum is worth a visit. Located on the Sheremetev Palace on Fontannaya, it's an apartment where she spent many years of her life. It really opened my eyes on Achmatova's life and hardships. Ladies working there are very sweet and helpful. Don't forget to take... More

The audio guide is great and the apartment is fascinating if you are a fan of Akhmatova. No one else there, very much off the beaten track, so quite cool.

A very interesting look at the where ordinary Russian lived aand the conditions that they lived on. The staff are very helpful and there are sheets in English which explain the various rooms. You have to enter a courtyard at the back of no 53 Liteynyy Prospekt

I had made a point of seeing this museum while in St. Petersburg, and think it would be an interesting stop for any tourists who'd like to learn more about the author and/or communal living (and life in general) within the Soviet Union. We had an English-speaking guide who took us throughout the apartment and was happy to answer any... More

Along with Doestoevsky's apartment -- this was out favorite activity in SPb. Well done, good grasp of "the times"....very representative. There is a nice , plain park in the apartment yard. Ladies sit around on newspapers, listening to the birds. Join them! This apartment gave us a glimpse of the "inside" of this rather closed culture.

As an expat living and working in SPb, i love the city, its buildings, parks, the Neva...but that is not enough. During my time here, I want to get to understand Russia and Russians a little better. This is one of the places that takes you beyond the physical surroundings and into their shoes. Even if you have to skip... More

This museum is off the beaten path, but really worth visiting. You will learn a lot about the famous Russian poetess Anna Akhmatova as she spent nearly the entire life in this house. You will be navigated through the most important and crucial milestones in her life and will really feel the atmosphere of that time. There is an audio... More
