I don't know which was the more spectacular, the theatre itself or the production of Swan Lake. The theatre has been restored to its 18th century grandeur and the sets, costumes and overall production of the ballet was a delight. I had hoped to visit the Kirov ballet but they were on summer shutdown but I doubt if they could... More

Lucky to have opportunity to see a wonderful performance in this beautiful theatre (also known as Pushkin Theatre). Swan Lake performed by the 'Corps de Ballet Konstantin Tachkins' Opposite is a small park, which is an Oasis amongst the bust streets, but has a very imposing statue of Catherine the Great, well worth a stroll around and great location to... We booked our tickets through our tour SPB and although we loved the old theatre and the actual performance of Swan Lake we had seats at the back and felt a bit crowded seating on a bench . So make sure you know what seats are being booked for you before you go. In saying that all five of us... More

Go early and tour the theater for pictures. Don't worry about front row being too close to enjoy the full scope of the ballet. We were third row and as the stage is not that high up from the seats it was a perfect view!

Beautiful theater- quaint and cozy. Worth going to see the architecture. The performance was so-so. The dancers were mid-range but not sure many would mind or even notice . Swan Lake is a must see and this theater usually has many performances in the summer months.

I went to a performance of Swan Lake here one evening. The ballet was very nice and the building was impressive. But I couldn't find any emergency exit signs. Don't know if I just missed them or they weren't there.
