Amazing large square, the place what you can see a lot of times by TV or in the Russian movies. It is nice to walk here. Just need to take in mind that it is possible to feel strong wind all the time. Take some scarf with you!

When we first got there, there were not many people. Turns out the Hermitage is closed on Mondays. But we did get to see a music video being filmed. It was funny to see the cameras and all the trendy looking make back up dancers surrounding the female singer. They would dance to music for a few seconds and then... More

A very large square, paved, with lovely buildings all around, inclusing the Hermitage. Come from the direction of the arch, and it opens out into a vast area. But be carefull, traffic still drives around part of the square, and fast!

A must-see In St Pete's! The open square is amazing even if you aren't visiting the Hermitage, just wander around and take it in! Shame about all the segway tours!!

Passed through Palace Square after leaving the Hermitage Museum. It is a massive square and was being set up with a huge stage for an evening celebration. We were on a cruise excursion, so unable to return for the festivities. Quite impressive setting.

Large and magnificent! The main square of the city. Every day there is a new story. A wonderful place for a stroll.

very fun but a lot of people all the time. This place holds a lot of concerts and other events, so head down now and then to see if something is happening here.

The sheer size of it is breath-taking - photographs we had seen did not prepare us for scale of the real thing. Most people will see it as part of their visit to the Hermitage museum, but it's worth making a special visit to it early in the morning before the crowds arrive, which brings home the vastness. Seeing it... More

We went to the square on a private tour the day before Victory Day. After visiting the Hermitage museum this is a good option for your next stop. Alexander Column is in the middle with the General staff buildings and Winter Palace surrounding it. We were there late afternoon in early May when it was very quiet so you could... More

Behind the Winter Palace, this is a picturesque place to be, in front of you the Palace, behind you the Staff building, and you know that they started the attack of the Winter Palace from here in 1917 - a piece of history, a must see in SPB!
