Lovely place to be. It is exactly like the photo. A spacious square with a view of the Hermitage and the winter palace and also in the back is the general staff courters.

Very lucky to have caught the military band practising for the May holiday. A strict conductor went over and over pieces again and again. Very entertaining to watch.

This square is huge and beautiful. Worth visiting if you go to Hermitage museum or anywhere near to it. You can take horse ride or just hang around for a while or just walk past. Buildings around it are old and pretty, also its next to Neva river.

The Red Square in Moscow is regarded as the main square of Russia, but it was not always the case. There was a time when the Palace Square was the main area of Russia. And for many who were born and grew up in St. Petersburg the Palace Square will always be considered of paramount importance. The Palace Square is... More

You will find yourself walking through Palace Square on your way to many sights in St Petersburg. We happened to be there Valentine's Day, and at night all the locals were down lighting lanterns and setting them to fly in the sky. It was very pretty to see hundreds of lit lanterns floating away on the breeze. Apart from being... More

Impossble to be in the city and not to visit its main square. It is easy to reach on foot from Gostiny Dvor subway station. The Hermitage is right near the square. Beautiful column and arch of the long yellow building that forms square's border.

Our hotel was quite close to the square and we enjoyed strolling round to take in the grandeur of the palaces. It is lit up at night and worth a visit then

This is the quintessential Petersburg view. For the best effect, approach it walking North on Bolshaya Morskaya from Nevsky Prospect, through the giant yellow arch that curves around to the left. The surprise that awaits you can't be topped. If you happen to be here on a weekend, be aware that this general area is haunted by drunk youths still... More

You may found yourself in a james bond movie entering a huge square with impressive buildings around You. The winter palace, the admirality, the huge obelisque makes you feel small. And makes you remember all the cruel history that took place here. And that is still happening.
