Perhaps we went at the wrong time but most of the (relatively small) area available to see was cordoned off, it looked as though a Christening was being held. What you could see looked beautiful but for such a large Church I expected far more to be accessible to the visiting public. More

Beautiful building, with a magic atmosphere.... Do not miss the religious services to enjoy the music and the ritual. There is an area reserverd for tourist. This cathedral is only a couple of minutes’ walk from Theater Square with Mariinsky Opera House. I first visited the cathedral on the day of remembrance - for all the sailors missing at sea... The poignant moment didnot take away the splendour and the beauty of the plcae of worship.
