Beautiful Monument

This is simply amazing. The Bronze Horseman is on (a huge rock) and you have to wonder how they placed it. This monument has survived it all.

This is an impressive monument of Peter the Great (the founder of the city). This monument has also a symbolism as the snake that his horse is stepping on represents the old Swedish Empire (he conquest the area the Swedish Empire). Location is great so no excuse not to see it.

Called, 'The Thunder Stone', it commenced its journey overland for shipment weighing 1,500 tons. As they pulled it they chipped away at it until it was reduced to a mere 1,250 tons. (See them pulling it in the picture online) The German minor Princess who married into the Russian Royal Family had a fair bit to do with the murder... More

Nothing much to see in a monument which is another one of the many you see in this wonderful city. I would say its nice but not really worth a special visit.

A terrific monument to Peter that is centered on one of the busiest intersections in the city. Everyone passes by and a few manage to study this monument to a tsar and Romanov.

I would echo many of the reviews already written about this attraction. If in St Petersburg, it must be on your itinerary. Spectacular statue in amazing condition. Within easy walking distance of all the other main central attractions. Take some time to view the statue from various angles to get a true idea of the beauty of it.

This is a very unique statue of Peter The Great, who founded the city. It survived the siege of the city during WW2. It is a must-see.
