The monument was built be Ekaterina to honour the Peter the Great for building this great city and Russian empire. Monument is built on the large rock as rock was scarce in the days that St.Petersburg was build (it was marshlands then). The monument is about 3 minutes from the Curch of the St.Isaak and next to the Neva river.

Our tour stopped here in order for us to take some photos as well as to explain the significance of the statue. A beautiful statue to honor Peter the Great.

This is a beautiful monument to the man that developed St Petersburg. It is in a pretty square, overlooking a church, so there is eye candy pretty much everywhere you look.

Wake up early, like 5 am and take a walk. You will be amazed about how any people are up and about. True, most are up from the previous evening. Nevertheless , there are not so many people. You can see the statue in solitude without so many people or traffic.

this is a beautiful bronze statue, but nothing else much to do or see in it. it would be ok to pass by it on your eay but definitely not something you want to go specifically for.

The most famous monument of the city which is placed on each card from S-Petersburg. You must take a picture near it for your photoalbum collection! :)

i had about an hour before departure of the hydrofoil that would take me to Peterhof so I strolled down the embankment to the statue of the Bronze Horseman, this magnificent statue was created by Etienne Falconet and unveiled in 1782. Peter the Great on his horse, a snake which is the symbol of betrayal is crushed beneath the horse's... More

Impressive statue! it's well sculpted and it really makes an impression, as it's in the middle of a completely empty park. Stands out! Easily combined with a stroll along the riverside or a visit to St Isaac's cathedral or Winter palace.

What a wonderful way to end our trip to the city of Peter the Great. The monument is worth seeing and so close to St. Issac's cathedral.
