It was designed and executed by the French sculptor Etienne Falconet and his assistants over a period of more than 10 years. He was never paid for his work by the arrogant... More

Peter the Great, the founder of St. Petersburg, astride his stallion balanced on just his back legs is inspiring to Russians and tourists alike. The single piece of red granite carved pedestal evokes strength and motion.

An impressive monument of Peter the Great, the founder of St. Petersburg. The Pedestal carved from a single piece of red granite made the bronze sculpture even more outstanding. Love to see locals lying around in the Park surrounding the statute relaxing and enjoying the sun. Very close to St. Issac's Cathedral so when you happen to be in the... More

What a magnificent piece of work. If you are near by do not miss it. I am glad we got to see it, brought an ice-cream and sat in the park and enjoyed the rest time.

A very nice bronze statue right in the heart of St.Petersburg. It is directly behind St. Isaacs cathedral and a few blocks away from the Heritage right on the Neva river embankment. A hot spot for wedding pictures and a good place to grab a snack.

He has been revered by many for this ever since, even though the city has stopped being the capital. Also, this statue is the symbol of admiration from one great emperor to another, which makes... It's well worth taking 2 minutes and strolling towards the embankment from St. Isaac's Cathedral as what you'll get is a beautiful photo in front of one of St. Petersburg's iconic sights, a monument dedicated to Peter the Great, the founder of the City from one of Russia's most important empresses, Catherine II. You'll marvel at it for 5 minutes... More
