We went with a tour group so it was nice to have transportation as the location is a bit far outside St Petersburg. The grounds are gorgeous and the palace is incredible, definitely recommend! more

We joined an English speaking tour, next to Gostiny Dvor, on Nesvksy Prosect. They don't go everyday - I think it's closed on Tuesday- so check ahead. We travelled out on a mini bus which was fine. Our guide had perfeect English and was very informative. There is something odd going odd at this time (June 2009) between the locals,... more

This was the highlight of my visit to St. Petersburg. A must see and pay attention to the floors a well as the walls and ceilings. A fairy tale palace. Take the dinner tour if possible where you receive champagne, caviar and entertainment along with a great meal, vodka and wine!!! more

Through our hotel, we joined a day tour to visit the palace. The guide sure knows how to get into the palace and park, as well she gave a very detailed tour of the palace. The palace is meticulous, and deserves a close study. The park is very big and will take an entire afternoon to walk around. Travel time... more

First of all, this is a very nice place. We have been in the winter (around new year) and the place is not crowded and the scenery is great! We went on our own. First with the metro to metro station moskovskaya , from there you can pick a few minibuses (286, 287, 299, 342, 32 Rubles pp). But then... more

We visited the palace in June 2008 on a Royal Caribbean tour. The palace is breathtaking, in fact, as our group walked up to the front of the palace, a British member of our tour group quipped, "It makes Buckingham Palace look like a bungalow". Each room is more captivating than the last one. The beauty of the palace must... more

I was lucky enought to have the time to make two excursions outside of St. Petersburg and to see both Peterhof palace and Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo. I have to say that I liked Tsarskoye Selo much better than the higher rated Peterhof. I was blown away by Catherine Palace and the parks surronding the palace. Just seeing the... more

The place is just awesome! A true counterpart to the famous Winter Palace - and not surprisingly, since this was the royal summer residence (while the Winter Palace was, naturally, the winter one). Especially recommended for those more interested in seeing the royal interiors then, say, the art displays. Although the palace itself is a masterpiece of art - I... more

Catherine's palace is 26 km outside St. Pertersburg and well worth the trip. It was destroyed by the Nazis and they painstakingly restored it to its prior state. They showed the before and after pictures which were amazing. Like most attractions in Russia, without a tour group they hard to get into. HOWEVER, this is one you can do solo... more

The restoration of the Amber Room is truly magnificent. A true testament to the resolve of the Russian people to restore a treasure like that. more
