My whole trip was on the purpose to see the theater itself, as I have been following the Mariinsky ballet on tours in the USA. I was lucky that they had a great selection of ballets the week(s) i visited. I loved the theater, it has a better organized, more intimate, cosier feel than the Bolshoi (visited in January 2012). The building is quite outstanding, if some way from the main street of this great city. I wish that I could of seen inside but at the time of my visit this was not possible, I would imagine that seeing a classic performed here would be an unforgettable experience. Take an organised tour if you don`t speak Russian. More

Great theatre to watch ballet. The surroundings inside sets the atmosphere perfectly. Only minus would be that it was a bit crowded inside the booth we where sitting.
