The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood was constructed on the site where Alexander the ll was killed. Construction commenced in 1883 and was completed in 1907. There is beautiful and colorful architecture and mosaics. There is a lot of use of pastel colors and gold. There are lots of place to look, ceiling, floors, walls and simply everywhere... More

From the onion domes on the exterior to the gold encrusted interior, this one of the most breathtaking churches in the world. My ship's excursion on my previous St P visit did not take us inside, so this was at the TOP of my list this time, and for good reason. Alla Tours made sure we saw everything!

A really nice place to visit, but I think its outside is much more memorable than its inside, still it is really impressive and beautiful.... I would rank it #2 as St.Isaacs is my #1 religious place in St.Petersburg...

I have been to St Petersburg on a few occasions, and have just looked at the outside of this church. It has quite a history, being the site where Alexander II was assassinated. This time I took the effort to go inside. The entry charge was a bit higher than expected (250 roubles). However, the first impression was Wow.

The outside is spectacular - wait till you get inside. Wall to wall mosaics. It is mind blowing! A visit will cost you about £2. Can't say no to that!

Get a picture of the outside, read the story, then get over to St. Isacs for the most beautiful interior

This is the most beautiful church both inside and outside that i have ever seen. About 400 rubles to get in i think, theres a gift shop inside which sells allsorts for really cheap, you are allowed to take photos although no camera could ever capture the beauty of this place. Located just off Nevisky Prospekt, theres a souvenir market... More

I have never seen a more opulent Church, but the spot where the assassination took place is really nicely understated

adored all the colours and murals. Beautiful and adored this amazing city. This building looked incredible from the outside and I stood for ages just looking at it.

Another amazing church with mosaics depicting life of Jesus. In great shape. You dont need too much time in here if you just want to get an overall impression. We were churched out so just took in the view - no guide
