The mosaics are breathtaking. In fact, everything about this church is breathtaking, both on the inside and out.

Definitely worth a walk-by. It is one of the more unique buildings I have ever seen. I'd stop by to/from a visit to the Hermitage.

I thought the church was at least hundred years old but in its current state it is just 25 years old, it was renovated after the perestroika kicked in. Very beautiful from the outside, but you have to see the interior too. Too bad there was no english spoken tour when we were there. Don't forget to walk through the... More

A stunning place, the stonework is amazing. My 5 year old daughter enjoyed it, too, following the story of Jesus by lovely paintings on the walls.

This church is unique as the interior is entirely covered in mosaics. Really quite something! The outside is beautiful as well and photographs well from many different vantage points. Make sure you go around the the back of the church as this affords a better view down the canal.

The outside of the cathedral is already very impressive, even though built in the 19th century it was deliberately designed in the old Russian style. The inside contains great mosaics, the whole church (walls and ceilings) are covered with them and the place where Alexander II was assassinated is marked by a marble building inside the church (the initial reason... Wow! Turned the corner and saw this amazing site. We went to the hermitage (horribly crowded) and then our tour dropped us off for some free time in the shopping district. Pay outside and show your ticket at the door. On the opposite side are little kiosks selling souvenirs. There are two corners within the church that sell souvenirs. They... More

The outside is stunning! Take pictures from the distance and up close. One great view is on the bridge a block or two away - provides great landscape of the city and the Church. Also - pay the rubles to enter the church. Unlike many of the churches you see all over the world, everything inside is a mosaic (vs.... More
