It is totally breathtaking. I have never seen anything like it anywhere in the world. The building is like myriads of the “onion” domes, standing quietly on the water canal away from the busy streets. Its founding story is very sad and horrible as it was dedicated to a Russian czar who abolished the slavery in Russia, but was killed... More

At one point in the Soviet era this Church was a vegetable warehouse. It stands on the spot where Alexander II, who sold us Alaska, was killed by an assassin's bomb.

Wonderful church, beautiful inside and outside. What a piece of art. The works inside are very detail. It was very crowed but I recomended. Defenitive it must be seen for any visitor to St. Petersburg.

With 7,000 sq meters of mosaic in this beautiful church, you can not miss stopping by! Usually the last stop as part of the SPB tours...thanks SPB!

The setting on the canal and the distinct medieval mosaic architecture is amazingly beautiful. And that is just on the outside! I found out that the church was built on the site where Czar Alexander II was assassinated and it was built in his memory by his son; hence the name, Church of the Spilled Blood. You must see this... quiet and divine interior. Glad the Bolsheviks didn't completely destroy it. Restoration is beautiful. Worth a visit.

Too crowded of course, but amazing mosaics. Not to be missed. Try to go early or late. I don't know what else to say.

The domes are similar to Saint Basils in Moscow, bordering a green park and market stall, nworth a visit if you have an hour to spare.

That's amazing!!! Just amazing!!!! You should come and see! And better with guide (they have free groups organized inside Cathedral). I have shivering every time I'm there, especially when you know the whole history of this building. Every cm made with mosaic! All over! Nothing is painted! I've never seen anything like that in the world!
