Great View of the City

Beautiful church, very interesting story boards that outline the history of the church. The immense wooden carved door were amazing.

Grand is the word to describe it. Purchase tickets before but no need to go around building as directions show. There is ATM looking machines up the steps.

Make sure to take the steps to the top and get a great view of the city. The inside of the church is impressive as well, but after seeing so many churches in Europe, they all seem to bleed together.

I got really lucky as I went there in the middle of the mass... The choir and the priests were singing replying to each other and all the multitude bowing to them. It was an interesting ceremony.

It is hard to say which of St. Petersburg's attraction is the most impressive but St. Isaac's Cathedral belongs to the top. Hard to describe its beauty and spectacular interior. There are some souvenir shops inside with reasonable prices and good selection with no fear to be fooled by seller.

We chose to go up to the roof first, a bit of a climb over 200 steps but worthwhile as you get a great view of St Petersburg. The inside is what you expect unbelievable colours and gold leaf everwhere.

We saw The Cathedral at 1999, it was under reconstruction. But even though it was worth walking upstairs and looking around. Now The Cathidral and it's Square are amazing. Inside there are excursions and you can find out a lot of interesting facts about St. Isaac's Cathedral. Also you can go upstairs to observation desk and spend some time looking... More

St Isaac's Cathedral is a huge and imposing structure located at one end of St Isaac's Square in the older and more historic part of St Petersburg. Dominated by a golden dome and with red granite columns on all sides, the cathedral is truly overwhelming. At night, the yellow lights add even more drama to the already spectacular cathedral. A... During the 900-day seige art works were stored here and in the area in front vegetables were grown --- protected from Nazi bombing as the Germans used the Cathedral as an essential marker --- has extraordindary history
