Some very cool pieces of amber can be seen here- including ones with fossilised insects inside, around 40 million years old. There is an extra charge for taking photographs and this is policed by curators inside the museum. It was quite hot inside, but I think it is worth a visit just to see some of the beautiful craftsmanship created... More

the german fort this is in is perhaps more interesting than the amber museum itself.. had i had more time i wld have explored the old german bastion just opposite.

Make sure you take small cash with you - although there should be POS terminal working, lady sitting and collecting money always says - it's out of order and is not very helpful to get big notes changed to smaller.
