There is no doubt that you should attend a concert or a ballet here, cause the visit is a must for anyone visiting Moscow! Just wonderful. To choose a place I recommend the balcony, which costs cheaper and has a great view of the whole stage (7th floor), but depending on the type of show, the vision can be bad.

We visited the Bolshoi to see the Opera The Tsars Bride. We bought our tickets direct from Bolshoi online which was straight forward. It cost us 4000R for two seats in the front row of box two. We loved the entire experience. The show was terrific, we had the opportunity to wander around parts of the building. The patrons dressed... More

I am not to discuss either opera nor ballet here, but merely the building. These days Bolshoy Theatre is very beautiful and definitely worth seeing by anybody. It looks very much the same it used to be some 50 years ago, but it is totally renovated and modernized. Some novelties are to the good, others I would prefer not to... More

It was my dream to visit Bolshoy, so when I visited Nutcracker (Shchelkunchik) at the end of December, my New Year fairytale was fantastic with this luxury theatre, music and ballet. Tickets are quite expensive, but it is worth to spend some savings and experience the nobility of interiors and public. I was worried about the view from 4th floor,... More

you have to go either for opera, or ballet. the theater is just whaou, try to get your ticket in advance via internet, as if you try to get your ticket for the next 2 days, your only solution is to get it on the black market. all the show are translated on the screen, in russian or russian english.

We went to see the ballet and it was personally one of the best performances I have ever seen. The orchestra played beautifully and the dancers were extraordinary. The bar was well stocked with drinks and small snacks during interval. I booked the tickets about 3 weeks in advance and the website was easy enough to use in English. I... More

I did not go inside and missed a show by 1 day as I had to leave for St Petersburg. However just the entrance, building and the square in front were enough to capture my imagination.

Prior to travelling to Moscow I looked on the internet for tickets to Swan Lake but the cheapest were £350 and sold out. Two ladies on my tour went and bought from a tout the first day, tickets were £65 each so as they worked out ok I went the next day Sunday ( as did two other couples) and... More

The building is an art piece for itself and the performance I saw (Hamlet ballet) was breathtaking. If you enjoy this kind of entertainment you have to see a show here, and if not the inside arhitecture is worth a visit. Tip: you can easily book online your tickets in advance on the Bolshoi Theatre homepage.
