I have visited many theatres around the world but nothing compares to the Bolshoi. The magnificence and splendour is wonderful. The multi-million dollar restoration has made the theatre into one of the best, if not the best, in the world. It has retained its history but is equipped with latest technology and facilities. Truly amazing. And then there are the... More

Bolshoi is an icon of Moscow. And one cannot imagine Russian cultural life without it! You may argue about dancers, directors' vision of classical perfomances, hidden sence of dance picture.. But! You must visit Bolshoi!! At least once! To make your own based-on-the-visit opinion!

We had a lovely evening at the Bolshoi. We saw Don Quixote, a delightful ballet. Even those in our group that were unsure about ballet loved it. It was on the "new stage" and we were lucky to get excellent seats.

Have seen several shows at the Bolshoi Theatre and every one has been amazing. The ones well worth seeing are the ballets Spartacus and Swan Lake. But there are also some super operas that you can see. But be prepared to pay a premium for tickets. They are definitely not cheap. Also buy them as early as possible as the... More

We went to see queen of spades and had average seats. I enjoyed the building and design more than the opera. Incredible place.

Bolshoy is one of the main point of interests in Moscow. But unfortunately, it doesn't confirms its well known image. Prices are at the level of European theaters but quality doesn't reach such level. And you are surrounded by unhelpful and sometimes rude staff every where.

Very impressive from outside, but breathtaking from inside. Expensive but worth a visit! One of the best operas I have ever been.

On 6 January 1825 the new Petrovsky Theatre opened – it was bigger than its predecessor so it became known as the Big (Bolshoi) Petrovsky Theatre. It was virtually reconstructed after a fire in 1853 and opened again on 20 August 1856 with a performance of Bellini's I Puritani. An interesting history of the building is found at http://www.bolshoi.ru/en/about/hist/history/ The... More

Getting tickets is very difficult & very expensive too, but we booked months in advance. If you plan to visit Moscow then without watching the ballet at Bolshoi the visit will not be complete. It will always remain in your memory which one will cherish. However my young child slept thru the entire show.

A must see if you are in Moscow. Otherwise, your trip is not complete! Our hotel was 10 minutes walking from it. So we were able to see it more than once.
