My wife and attended the ballet Gisele on the 13th June. The theater is lovely and the ballet was superb.

We went to see the Little mermaid (Ballet) and it was a fantastic performance. Brilliant dancers, good music and a beautiful scenography. The Theatre itself was also a nice experience, small and cosy but with plenty of space outside. A former outdoor yard had been converted into an indoor area with Photo exhibitions and cafe.

It is not worse than the Bolshoy. Has weaker brand but probably better repertoir. Nacho Duato's ballets are great, check if they run ones on your evening

If you want to see excellent opera or ballet in Moscow, you will not be disappointed with an evening at the Stanislavsky. The theater is more intimate and with less grandeur than the Bolshoi. The principals at the Stanislavsky are younger and not as established stars as the Bolshoi, but we thought their corps de ballet was stronger. The smaller... More

Stanislavsky Theatre is a very good choice for opera. I have seen about a dozen productions there, they were visually beautifull and musically perfect. It is a good alternative, specially when the tickets to Bolshoi are overpriced and virtually impossible to get outside the black market.

We went to see Tosca tonight, breaking my rule to watch only Russian operas in Russia. I do this so the sur-titles will be in English if the opera is sung in Russian, and because I like listening to the opera of the country I am in. I am sorry I broke my own rule. Generally, I like this theatre,... More

In Russian, the Bolshoy Theatre is translated as 'big'. Well, this very theatre is bigger than the big one. Not in direct meaning, of course. It is my opinion. I have been in this theatre many times. I love it!!! The performances there are really great! You will enjoy it!

I saw a beautiful show featuring dances and costumes from many of the former USSR republics. I went with native Russian friends and really enjoyed the fantastic dancing and show. The dancers were excellent!
