I visited the 70 songs of the Victory and it was amazing. The instrument section on the 2nd floor is great too but definitely the temporary exhibition was incredible. You need time to listen to every musical excerpt that they have.

You can see lots of different musical instruments here - from ancient Russian "gusli" and European "serpent" through Amati, Gvarneri and Stradivari masterpieces, to 20-th century music boxes and musical clocks. It is possible do just hang around there and listen to the instruments yourself with a digital aid or to take a private tour (with a guide that walks you through!). The private guide costs 1000 rubles (in addition to entrance fee). Takes about an hour which isn't cheap but for me it was worth it.

many musical instruments exhibitions, (from all over the world, history). English/Russian Audio Explanation Service w/ Headphone is really complete and interesting. 300Ruble/person is reasonable, Staff attentions are cozy and good (only speak russian).

I didn't expect the museum to be so fascinating. There is a huge collection of world instruments grouped by the areas of provenance. Everything is tagged in Russian and English. Some items are truly bizarre, rare and old. The main purpose of my visit was actually a lecture on the use of theremin, or thermenvox, in cinema. The lecture was... More
