This is a very comfortable and convenient way to travel between the 2 cities. Book in advance as the train is often full, and the queue for tickets long. It's a nice trip through the Russian countryside, taking about 3.5 hours. The train is probably the cleanest we've been on. There is food service onboard with a good variety of... More

Did an evening connection after Moscow Golden Ring and really enjoyed the experience to St Petersburg. Not the fast train I experienced in Europe, but easy and pleasant. Busy train but best way to do it.

Sapsan is a very good way of transportation between Moscow and S-Pete. I love the fact that you go from the city center to city center instead of Airports outside the cities. Also, no wait like in the airports - you come to the station and get on! The trains are very clean and comfy, there is a buffet car... More

The train looks like it goes at the speed of light. The ticketing and boarding and seating are generally great. The conductors are gracious and helpful. Lack of hassle. Sometimes not so easy to find the platforms in the most outdated railway stations - Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod... But Sapsun has a bar/bistro car. The wine is not so bad. The... More

A very convenient way to travel from Moscow to St.-Petersburg. You take a comfortable seat and enjoy the speed reading or working on computer. The fact is that within 3,5 hours you are in another city and have more time for exploring or work. If you are hungry you can visit the restaurant car. But if you do not want... More

Fly on the tracks from/to Moscow or St Petersburg. Leave from a convenient Metro stop and arrive at another. No taxi fares. St Pete's is horrendous for taxi fare rip off. Saves you the hassle. Clean and superbly maintained.

I was traveling between Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow, i had enough of planes and thought of trying the train, and i was lucky i did. The time difference is not much if you calculate the time you spend at the airport before the flight and the boarding, etc.. And also the long distance between the airport and the city. It... More

Travelled on the Sapsan in October 2012. Best mode of transportation from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Fast and comfortable with speed exceeding at times 200 km an hour. The trip takes 4 hours whereas a regular train would be about 8 and driving can take an unknown amount of time, at least 8 hours and quite possibly more depending on... More
