I booked my ticket in English directly on the Russian railways website rzd.ru. Easy to follow the steps, the ticket was printed at home. Some people have mentioned problems paying online with a foreign credit card, but there were no problems. At the station in Moscow you have your bags screened and pass a metal detector at the entrance and... More

The train was very good and travelled at about 200- 220 kph with a journey time of 4 hours between Moscow and St Petersburg. The scenery was fairly monotonous with fir trees and birch trees interspersed with rivers swamps and small settlements. We stopped at two stations en route for two minutes each. It was a very smooth ride and... More

Taking the Sapsan really is an experience. Just like taking the Bullet Train in Tokyo. It is a million times better than standard trains in Russia. Comfort, leg room, service. It was a wonderful journey.

The Sapsan is the fastest way you can get from Moscow to St Petersburg. Its a little more expensive compared to the regular trains but completely worth it.

Iv'e put my itinerary together. The only thing I need to know is this. How easy is it to get from the airport into Moscow? Should I just grab a taxi or go by aeroexpress I think the difference is only around £10. Also how easy it is to get the Samsan fast train to St. Petersburg. Someone told me... More

The Sapsan is the best option to go from Russia to Finland. It is fast and comfortable. There are large landscapes along the way, but has a good cost / benefit. Tickets can be bought online either on the page of the Finnish system of trains as in the Russian rail system page (no matter the direction of travel). Have... More

Traveling between Moscow and St. Petersberg so much more pleasant on train than the hassle of the airport. 3 hours to saint Petersburg by train vs 1.5 hours by plane. no luggage restrictions or surcharges to pay. also there's a lounge for drinks and food if you don't want to eat and drink in your seat
