The Cluj-Napoca National Theater made some good decisions over the years, like hiring Ada Milea, working with Silviu Purcarete, but most of their plays are so bad I actually have a hard time staying till the end. They try to entertain the audience by making cheap, often sexual, cringe-worthy, jokes and shouting instead of acting. They do too little of... More

The Romanian opera: situated in the city centre at the end of Bulevardul Eroilor the building is a pleasure to look at from the outside and from the inside. It was designed by the architects of the Vienna opera house and opened in 1919. We saw two shows : My Fair Lady and The Merry Widow. Both shows with a... More

Some of my friends and me wanted to witness a real opera in a classic opera building while visiting Cluj-Napoca. An excellent choice we realized. Both the interior and exterior of the building are absolutely stunning and it fits in very well with the big square it's sited on. The play was in Romanian with Italian subtitles, which made it... This national theater in the heart of the city is beautiful. We only saw the outside, but it seems well maintained and the colors were vibrant.

The show is one exception ... lights and color, music, mime and dance, mixed with humor and passion, they all guarantee a wonderful evening.

What a beautiful building, a real jewel in Cluj and everyone should help support this Theatre! We went to see the Flying Dutchman and really enjoyed it The orchestra was fantastic, the cast was brilliant and the show was 10 out of 10 The theatre is so under priced, it is a shame that it needs a little bit of... A very good play by Eugen Ionesco. The actors played it fine, the decores were a bit old and refurbished, but taht's all. The building is an old style one with red carpets and gold foil on the ceilings
