A leisurely experience across the isthmus made originally to shorten the road for the gold rush seekers in the 19th century headed to California. A jungle, canal experience unparalleled (short of a Canal Transit by ship) see the tropical cross section of Panama and the waterway joining the oceans. Just take care to arrange something in the way of return... More

The train ride was the last portion of a day trip that included some other tours in the area. Once boarded and on the go, you had the option of sitting in the car, or the option of standing outside (which of course, I chose to do, and is the option I recommend, although very windy!) You passed through some... More

We took the Panama Canal railroad journey by rail and bus and had a most enjoyable day. At first the windows were all fogged up due to the light rain and humidity but the open air viewing areas on each carriage provided a great alternative - after a short time the windows were clear as well although some folks continued... A trip on the Panama Canal Railway train gives one a new insight into the jungle of Panama, the amazing Gatun Lake and wonderful views of the Canal and the locks. We loved the trip and would highly recommend it if you've already journeyed up the Canal.

We did the railway ride through a tour guide Luis, great guy (read my other reviews to see who or drop me a message, I can't post it here); we used him for another one of his tours later that week...EXCELLENT Tour Guide. Luis picked us up at the hotel, he took us out to this gourmet coffee shop early... More

We took the train ride from Colon to Panama City, and then a bus back. The train is clean, well preserved, and has a lot of interesting history. But, the 90 minute ride to Panama City was nothing special. Most of the trip was thru forest regions, with a few brief glimpses of the canal. The only good thing about... More

We enjoyed a great ride on the Panama Canal Railway from the Gatun Locks to the west coast and Panama City. A great journey which took us along the canal and by the construction of the new canal being built parallel to the one in operation now. A great trip in an old 50's RR car used on the east... More

The railway is a good option to allow you to see the Panama canal and the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans on same day. Took the train from Colon to Panama City. Comfy 'old style' trains with trolley service, open air platforms and observation car. As others have reported there was a delay before we started, but this seems the norm... More

This trip was scheduled to be 3 1/2 hours and it turned into 5 1/2 hours because there is only one track and if a commercial trail comes you have to wait for them to pass. Over all the scenery was ok not great and the train seats are uncomfortable. So make sure you have a good back. It is... More

This is a great trip. Go with a guide or tour company. Colon is a very old port city with sailors and others arriving after many days at sea from both oceans. The huge free trade zone brings in buyers from all over the world. Do not go alone. Go in a group. And better, with a tour company/guide. Don't... More
