We really enjoyed this short train trip. The trains old and lovely. Don't see that much of the canal, but the simple experience of being there was worth it. We also needed to be in Colon at its arrival time, so pleasure was mixed with need. A happy coincidence.

This was a nice train ride to the city of Colon. The train ends in a parking lot. There is not much around. We had a driver pick us up because the train back did not leave until late afternoon. You need to have transportation or take taxi once in Colon. Overall it was a relaxing morning on the train... More

This is a brilliant scenic trip but the Colon area is very unsafe for tourists. I recommend you go as a group and do not display anything of value. Absolutely go during the day and if you can take a tour group with guide. The train trip once underway is quite spectacular and rewarding.

This is a very fun, scenic, and comfortable train ride along the Panama Canal, Gatun Lake, Colon, and various small towns. You can sit in a comfortable club car and get drinks and snacks. Very very scenic and only 1 hour 15 minutes.

Did this as a ships excursion the day before we did the Panama canal transit. Caught the train in Panama City and got off in Colon. Trip from one end of the canal to the other took about 45 mins. Train was comfortable enough but a bit boring to be honest with no commentary. Best part of the trip was... More

The ride on the train was pleasant, that's it. We were told that we would see the scenery, what scenery? All we saw was a lot of trees, we are from the deep south so that we see a lot of trees in our own neighborhood,we did see more of the area on the bus ride back. Yes, you have... More

One of my favorite subjects in school was Social Studies, which in Panama focuses particularly on the history of the Railroad, the Canal itself and the close relationship between our country and the United States from the very birth of Panama as a nation. Today I took the trip on the Railroad and it was as though all that I... More

While on our cruise, we took the train ride on The Panama Canal Railway. The ride was nice and the 2 conductresses were very pleasant. We were fortunate to book the Dome Car, which I recommend. It places you up higher so you can see more of the scenery. During the ride they served a compimentary cup of Panamanian Coffee... More

Never realized the awesome achievement of the Panama Canal until I experienced it first hand. And this train trip was truly the icing on the cake. We went through the first set of locks at Gatun Lake and then disembarked the ship and got on the train. We traveled the rails along beautiful countryside and got to the Pacific Ocean... More

When on a cruise ship, Panama Gov't does not allow passengers to disembark unless they are on a tour. We chose the train as we went through the Gatun Gates, into the lake but did not go to the Pacific side. By taking the train we were able to also see the Mirafore Gates, the museum and the building site(s)... More
