Protecting the coast of Panama from pirates, Fort San Lorenzo was constructed recommended by Bautista Antonelli, an italian engineer, who was commissioned by King Phillip II of Spain. History. And lots of it. Imagine what has happened there over the last 400 years. The people who fought and died there. I was stationed in Panama from '92-94. We used to go there every couple months or so just for something to do on a weekend. Maybe stop at Devil's Beach which was just outside of old Fort Sherman... more

Maybe we were just there on a particularly good day. The combination of the crystal blue Carribean water, clear sunny skies were great in themselves.
